Why is there so much emphasis on radio receivers and transmitters in this season. Dustin and Steve's entire relationship is just discussing radio transmitter repair. They physically repair multiple receivers in the first few episodes. Will becomes a receiver. Winona Ryder spends her time in the radio. Robin is running a radio program.

It's just a lot of radio and radio related talk.

I hate Ted, reminds me of an a-hole neighbor, who not shockingly has ne relationship with his kids.

Season 5 has been fu so far, Will finally out of his damsel in distress role was fantastic

I found the first half the season pretty meh myself. Worth finishing for sure, but not as excited as I’ve been about previous seasons.

He was passable as a kid but now he’s just a bad adult actor

Yeah. Winona Ryder is really on or off too. The scenes with just the two of them can be really bad.

It was good, but starting to feel like “we need to fill 8 episodes” vs. “This is how long it’ll take to tell the story”.

Stuff for the sake of stuff, kinda thing. Story getting a bit convoluted to shoe-horn in 35 actors. Shoulda kept it simple rather than smell your own farts so much.

I guess honestly, really no story should take 40 hrs to tell, really.

Yeah, shes a decent foil. I find bouncing off of Harbour or 'Murray' she's okay, but when it comes to the rest of the kids its like its her first day.

I don't have a problem with the # of episodes but each episode itself is about 20% too long with a lot of waste that could be easily cut. I like the fact that streaming has allowed creators to move beyond standard 22 minute/45 minute show lengths, but it's created a lack of discipline in terms of editing.

The military battle against the demos was just so stupid to watch. All these guns firing in a circle against a fast moving target and no one gets hit by a stray bullet? I'm pretty meh on this whole season as well, I end up on my phone whenever there's a Will heavy scene as it's just painful to watch. I'm only sticking with it for some kind of closure at this point, at least it won't drag on as long as Dexter or Weeds did

I think you're right. She is at the point where she is great as a compliment, but when she's expected to carry the child actors, it's not so good.

This may have been an issue her whole career. She has all sorts of awards for supporting work or being part of an ensemble. A lot of the movies, where she had the lead, were poorly received. Could also be that she just never outgrew the angsty teenager/young adult role.

They could definitely cut some of the endless chatter about radio technology.
