States that rely on tourism are going to be really annoyed by this. Hopefully they can get some of that sweet tariff money that the farmers are getting to bail out their industry as well. Edit: Beaten to the punch.

What's happening in the US reminds me of what happened in the UK with Brexit. A slow moving destruction of a countries economy combined with creating huge divisions within the country.
I look at both situations being a group of citizens trying to actively destroy their country.
It was obvious the result of Brexit would be a serious economic problem and the 'benefits' were complete lies or total misinterpretations of data.
It's obvious that what Trump is doing will lead to serious economic problems. I don't know what there is for short to mid-term economic optimism.

Well...that would be unfortunate. I'd surely be hauled away in chains awaiting my inevitable one-way trip to El Salvador.

What people are starting to realize is that when you factor in hotel costs, food costs, excursions, etc. many places in the U.S. are way more expensive to vacation in than the majority of destinations in Europe and Asia. I don't know if any amount of policy reversal would even help the decline in American tourism.

Personally, I'm really excited to travel to Europe, Japan, etc. instead of America. We went over to watch some soccer in the summer of 2024, and had a blast. Can't wait to go back and bring the family along.

Just saw on the Daily Show that U.S. farmers reported losses of around $44 billion this year because of tariffs. So Trump’s paltry $12 billion bailout package doesn’t do much help them at all.
