They're not going to win 75% of their games for the rest of the season.

Okay but since we're throwing out hypotheticals, IF they dont fall (they are already bottom 5...) lets say they actually improve slightly, what is next for you?

Then there is nothing you can do, other than be happy your younger players are over achieving. It would mean the young players are all filling in and stepping up.

And you have some extra 1st round picks for trading the vets while they still have value before they decline.

Calgary is even with SJ and Utah after tonight in games played

That's just two teams.

For example, they've played 4 more than Seattle, 3 more than Nashville, Winnipeg, Ottawa, Florida, 2 more than Buffalo and Chicago.

Jets and Preds play and likely lose tonight...Buffalo too sadly. Most of those teams arent winning games lately. Chicago and SJ are looking like they are free falling back to their normal spots.

But most of the teams I listed still have multiple games in hand which is my point. It's easier for the Flames to gain ground if they're winning when they're playing more than other teams.

Over the top outrage that McKenna is a Canuck and then we need to put Frost, Farabee, and Weegar on the trade market so we can finish bottom 5.

It easy to gain ground on them when they never win

All I'm saying is that the people like Rhett44 who are panicking need to keep that in mind. If they played equal games or if the Flames played less I would get being that worried.

That is not true at all. I have been saying we need to trade Andersson, Kadri, and Coleman since last year and nothing has been done.

If they traded those three, then I would be content.

“Gained significant ground”

We were 7 points away from being out of the top 10 and 5 out of the top 5 and now we’re 3 and 1.

We gained 4 points on those teams.

We’re still in the bottom 5.

We’ve played more games than all of the top 10.

But maybe you’re right and we’re going to be in the playoffs and win the cup. Since we’re so much better than Florida and the like.

I know you chose florida to prove a point, but sorting by point % theres 7 teams .500 or below.

Its very easy to see the flames jumping those teams, stl, sjs and Utah. The just above then is the sens, kraken and Hawks, which again not crazy. Those twams just above .500 are only 3 points ahead of the flames.

I'd be ALOT happier with Lawrence over Carels

Can’t really pull the alarm until the trade deadline. It’s a lot of hand wringing until we see what they do. I reserve the right to make sarcastic digs at management and especially Maloney until then though.

Can we just have nice things and win the lottery. Lord knows we won’t ever get a top 3 without it lmao. This way everyone’s happy, the ppl who are honorable and never cheer for losses, and the tank crowd.

good analysis. i think this is probably the most realistic way to look at it. Watching some of the other bad teams in the league, the Flames aren't actually close to contending for top picks, even if you remove some guys. They're a ~20th overall team in terms of talent that started with a cold streak.

However, they could be replaced with negative WAR players, bringing the team closer to top 3. Is Kevin Rooney available?

Insane the one year we have the ability to tank and get a game changer in the draft, the entire rest of the league implodes and extreme parity hits. We are so cooked.

The best thing we can do on December 9 is overreact to the standings on a daily basis.

Can’t believe we missed out on McKenna already and/or won the Stanley Cup and/or traded both everyone and no one.

Glad we can just skip the entire rest of the season.
