I pity anyone that really thinks the Flames are moving out players at this point. Unless the team goes back on a 2-8 run over the next 10 games it's basically a foregone conclusion it will be a stand pat, draft in the teens season again. In ownership's mind, this team is 3 points out and getting hot. What leads anyone to believe they will suddenly change course after all these decades?

Injuries are as frequent as ever right now so I think it's less to do about the physicality of the game as lengthened careers has more to do with athletes taking much better care of their bodies. Every decade you can see it more and more.

6+ firsts in 3 drafts, near league high cap, no significant UFA signings, 6+ major contributers traded.
