Pretty good episode, plenty of sketches that made me laugh, mostly original stuff. It really feels like they are continuing to let newer cast members have some quality time. Did not see Jane Wickline, saw plenty of Ashley Padilla, Jeremy Culhane, Tommy Brennan who reminds me a little of Will Forte crossed with Jim Brewer and a little bit of Veronika Slowikowska.
Does Cher have a new album? That would be great because I can’t hear Believe one more time in a soft rock office.
Fata, now that song is in my head! You dick. Was that the song with the video where she was on that battleship with the outfit where you could almost see her lips?

I think that was Turn Back Time. It's another earworm.

I don’t understand fans’ fascination with Cher. She couldn’t sing when she was young and she certainly can’t sing now. Must be the outfits.
This is the only listenable song she has ever had and it was Bono’s:
Sorry, fotze…

For some unknown reason I recently rewatched the battleship video where Cher exposes her ass, I couldn't believe how hilarious and crazy that outfit was. Oh f it, link won't work for some reason.
The UPS sketch and Sarah Sherman’s raccoon bit on Update were my favourites. The rest of the episode was pretty great as well. One of the best episodes of the season for sure.

When they were introducing the raccoon I thought it was going to be Bowen. Sarah killed it.
The most puzzling part for me was that they should have been good. Musicians were top notch, harmonically - the music was very complex and interesting, back vocals group were superb. But the actual songs were completely unlistenable. The desire to stand out and be different often produces “wtf was that?”-type of SNL musical numbers.

The back-up band was full of great musicians like Justin Vernon of Bon Iver so I agree it could have been good, but I did not like those songs. His album is on some of the indie rock focused best of lists so I checked it out. Not good.

My wife and I were commenting during the musical guest that all those musicians and singers should have sounded so much better than it did. It’s like the songs had no flow.
