Ugh.

Everytime someone made a status statement, a full screen readout for our viewing pleasure. The only character with any personality was Giamati, so I guess we are cheering for him. I assume he is the hero.

Kurtzman still does not understand Star Trek. This is going to be tough.

You can get lens replacements now that fix both presbyopia and myopia.

And believe it or not there's eye drops available right now that fix presbyopia.

I want to know how lonely was the mad scientist that decided to make Jem'Hadar with boobs.

Frankly this is one of the most obtuse disrespectings of canon out there.

Almost as bad as the spore drive.

The Jem'Hadar are a manufactured race that grow in tubes. Their entire purpose, and what little "culture" they have is completely antithetical to having two genders. EVEN IF they weren't just allowed to die off (probably what they would want from the majority of Jem'hadar we've ever seen on screen) then they would very likely want to continue being born and bred in test tubes.

Two genders exist so that you can have sex. AFAIK it is extremely unlikely that "male" Jem'Hadar (FTR never really specified to be male either, they're genderless creations) even have sexual organs.

BREASTS! WHAT!

My speculation is that they're going to 'hand wave' this away saying that the Founders had a change of heart at some point in time and made the Jem'Hadar a proper species that could pro-create on their own now.

It seems like something that Kurtzman would do.

Same as the 'happy Klingon.'

They set it so far in the future that they can just write a couple lines of dialogue and say something like 'things changed over time.'

Which could be an interesting premise if they do something cool with it, but I doubt they will.

Remember, this #### show will take place in the awful Discovery future 800 or so years after TOS, so all sorts of crazy stuff could have happened in the mean time.

She's a JemHadar/Klingon person with a British accent, makes perfect sense.

That Odo joining the great link would lead to social changes is not out of line. But I doubt we get that well of a thought out message.

I mean, it would make more sense that if the Founders were no longer at war with Starfleet, or anyone else for that matter, that they'd just stop making Jem'Hadar entirely as opposed to changing them up.

Yeah, I don't expect them to give a very good reason or justification for it but the story room is there to explain how a beloved Trek character played a role in eventually seeing Jem'Hadar (and the other vat-born subservient races like the Vorta) released from their existence being dependent on the Founders and given their own ability to propagate themselves.

I expect it to be hand waved away or even ret conned, not because they made a conscious choice but that they forgot all Jem'Hadar are men and decided they were all just masc-presenting to cover for it.

I think you are right but it from both perspectives, however it's still hilarious to realize a designer species got designer genitals.

Yeah I'm not exactly going to rush out and reactivate my Paramount subscription for this, maybe when Strange New Worlds starts up again or if there's another show I' want to watch I'll reactivate and then hate-watch the first episode if I'm already having a bad day.

in a twist of fate that I can't yet describe, my wife sent me the poster to this and said "FINALLY A TREK SERIES FOR ME!"

I am conflicted. Deeply deeply conflicted.

Either that or find a good divorce lawyer.
