Default Campervan Canada

Hi All,

We're coming over to Canada from Scotland for the World Cup next summer. Flying in to Toronto and then due to where the Scotland games are scheduled for heading east to Boston for at least one of the games.

Are there any particularly good companies or websites to use for camper van/motor home hire for around 10 days while we're there? Anything particularly we should be wary of? Will most companies let us go to/from the US in their vehicle?

Any tips or hints much appreciated 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁳󠁣󠁴󠁿

9 years ago I rented with Fraserway. They were great. I didn't feel like there was any extra nonsense charges or anything like that. I had looked at Canadream but the extra stuff and the way they did things felt less convenient and maybe a bit more exploitative. I still would have rented with them if I didn't have a choice though.

You will have to look at the rental policies to see where they allow you to take it. If you get a motorhome vs the van(in the small sizes, anyway) they are more comfortable, have more water capacity etc, but they do chew through fuel if you have to go highway speeds. Totally reasonable on roads driving 100km/h though.

I haven’t tried this but could be an option: https://www.rvezy.com/rv-rentals/des...lberta/calgary

And this is one I see a lot. Seems to focus on smaller units: https://karmacampervans.com/?gad_sou...CAAEgLqY_D_BwE

And for sites, this is like AirBnB for private sites. We use this all the time: https://www.hipcamp.com/en-CA

Edit: I see you’re staying in the east. Not sure if these apply.

Also, if you plan to stay in provincial or national parks find out when reservations start and be ready with multiple browsers to reserve the second they open.

This is very key, the National Park campground sites can fill up in a matter of minutes for the entire summer. Not all of the them but certainly the high profile ones do.

I have no personal experience renting a campervan but maybe check Turo?

Last time I Had family from the Netherlands they used canadream and were quite happy with it. Went all over the place, too.

I’d endorse Canadream too. They were great.

Have a look at the RV Forum for more info on touring USA and Canada. I know there is at least one Scot on there that has done a similar trip.
