Gridin off to flying start with Wranglers

Matvei Gridin introduced himself to the AHL by recording seven points in his first four games with the Calgary Wranglers back in October.

He has hardly let up since.

Flames prospect Mace’o Phillips feeling ‘big sense of pride’ at World Junior A Challenge

Mace’o Phillips wants to someday win a Stanley Cup in Calgary, but the 18-year-old defenceman is focused this week on earning a gold medal.

Searching for offense, Sabres shuffle forward lines

On Friday, reflecting on a six-period stretch with one even-strength goal, Buffalo Sabres coach Lindy Ruff hinted at some upcoming lineup changes.

Back-to-back losses in Philadelphia and Winnipeg saw the Sabres accumulate 48 shots, 22 high-danger scoring chances and 5.68 expected goals at 5-on-5, per Natural Stat Trick. But that zone time and puck possession has amounted to just one goal – by defenseman Bowen Byram in Wednesday’s second period.

Last month, the Sabres wore their ugly black uniforms against the Flames, robbing us of one of the best-looking jersey match-ups in the league.

Tonight, the Flames return the favour and wear their own ugly black uniforms.

The tanking professionals versus the tanking wannabes. Now is Calgary's chance to take the masterclass in tanking from Buffalo. Somehow, I think the Flames will still suck less and overachieve in this game.

Go Flames!

On the scales of what both organizations WANT to happen:
Buffalo 3-2 Calgary

What will probably happen:
Buffalo 2-3 Calgary

Nope, it'll be a repeat of what happened 19 days ago in Buffalo. The Flames will win 6-2.

The Flames are in the midst of playing a lot of the weaklings of the league. Both their goalies are playing well.

They’ll win this one.

Odds are even in tonights matchup at -110 each. Meaning if you bet on either them you're a frigging idiot because that's how sports betting works

During the Miikka Kiprusoff era, Mikael Backlund was our most successful first-round draft pick. And drafted only one superstar Johnny Gaudreau which was a stroke of luck.

My hope is that the Dustin Wolf era proves to be a more successful than the Kiprusoff era.

Tage was such a massive (pun intended) story that one year. I saw him as a potential Cam Neely, but now is more like what I hope Klapka will become (production-wise, not position).

A 6'6" Right shooting Centre that scores 40 goals a year. Guy still is a stud but like everyone on Buffalo they stink and need to get out.
