That's not how it works. They would still have 3 games in hand.

The last wildcard team in CHI is 3 games over .500, the Flames are 5 games under .500. If they win, they would still need to win 7 more games than Chicago, before the end of the season.

Just enjoy the game.

I'm not sure that's exactly how it works. Chicago can lose their games in hand.

But yeah, playoffs are a pipe dream. Just keep putting together solid games like this which they have been doing more often than not.

Right now, they're 6 points back, so it would be 4 and that's only if none of the teams ahead of them gain points, which is impossible since Edmonton and Winnipeg play each other.

Depending on how all the games go, by the end of the night, the last Wild Card team will have 31 or 32 points. With a win, the Flames would have 26.

Pretty good first period by the Flames, hopefully they can keep it up.

Yeah, not exactly how it works. I blame trying to type quickly during commercial. The point I was trying to make was that even if CHI goes on a losing streak, there would still be 6 teams between them, so the Flames need something like a 7 game win streak just to get back into the conversation of playoffs.

Can we please fire off the stupid NHL network to the face of the sun? Barely anyone carries it anymore on a reasonable package. I hate when Flames games are on it down here in the US (most Flames games can.be found on the basic ESPN streaming package here). I was really looking forward to chilling out on the couch with a beer and watching the game.....

Longshot here, but will the flames win 8-3 for my birthday? That would easily be the biggest surprise today, even more than my skydiving gift certificate lol.

Tough break for Utah, Cooley to Hayton is a massive massive drop off.

If you're turning 83 and someone gave you a Gift Certificate for Skydiving I'd double and triple check that parachute if I were you....sounds like someone is angling for an early inheritance...
