Frost is coming around

I’m noticing this guy a lot more lately. His slickness is now turning into some nice assists. He’s on a 45 pt pace. I’m not sure his ceiling for us but I think he is part of the long term future. Whether it’s a solid 2C if his offense continues to pick up. Or a nice 3C replacement for Backlund in the future. Either way it’s pretty valuable for the future.

I loved Pelletier but I’m starting to like this trade quite a bit and think Frost is starting to fit in just fine!

Frost's metrics were so good when the trade happened, I started seeing him for his value defensively, and from a play-driving standpoint. Even when he's not scoring, he's still very useful- and he's one of the few forwards on the team who can make clean entries.

Let's be evenly evaluative though. Good, but not rare or irreplaceable.

Teams do need these kinds of guys to fill out the middle of the line up, and these two guys are certainly more useful to the team's outlook than those that went out for them.

We're noticing Frost more lately and that's nice, but it also isn't indicative that he's going to be more consistent going forward. If he was consistent, he wouldn't average out at a 45 point forward give or take in his career and it would've taken a lot more to acquire his services.

They're young-ish but they've been around long enough that I don't think the ceiling on either is much higher than they've shown to date. Maybe 10-15%

Low cost acquisition that is our 2C now and will have to play 1C for awhile when Kadri is eventually traded.

Has some elusive skill/playmaking and really good at entries into zone for powerplay especially. Will be a fixture on PP1 for a long time.

Will slot back to 2C and even 3C as our young centers emerge which will take a lot of time. He is the perfect youngish age player to bridge the transition to a new core.

I can see Frost a Flame for several years.

Farabee likely a decent trading chip as he nears the end of his contract especially if he can get to 20G 20A territory.

He's 26, playing in his 7th season, on pace for 45 points while getting some pretty good ice time including decent PP time.

He's the poster child for a top centre on a last place team.

That's not to say he's a bad player, as he's not, but he's simply taking up space until Calgary gets some better players.

But on a good team, he's bottom 6 getting 25-30 points.

The last poster says he's a bridge to the next core, which is a perfect description. By the time Calgary is contending for a playoff spot, he's likely gone or playing bottom 6 minutes.

As long as he's playing top minutes, Calgary is likely a bottom feeder.

It was a good trade, as Calgary needs some players who can contribute to some degree until their prospect base expands and develops.

But it's unlikely he'll ever be part of the Flame's core fighting for a playoff spot.

Personally I think Frost is the Flames best center,

I think Frost needs 1 thing and he completely changes .... belief....self belief , support from his coaches , more ice time .
I see a killer. Skill , potential just oozing out of him . I bet Tortz pushed him hard and he didnt respond.

I mean we could have gotten Pelletier back for free. That ship has sailed.

Frost is what he always has been - And the reason Philly gave up on him.

He's not good or consistent enough to be one of your top 2 centers on a good team, and isn't a checking center/large enough to play a real shutdown role.

He's good enough for average and bad teams to get his 40-50 points.

And realistically at his age he is what he is now.

Points are great, but it's tough to score on the PP when you can't get into the Offensive zone. Frost is our best puck carrier right now hands down.

He's been coming around since he arrived. Guy has great skill. Just needs a better team around him and for long enough to build on that consistency.

2nd line C for now. It's tough to gauge his offensive play with the current system but I think he has the skills to be a 50p guy. Maybe he gets pushed down to the 3rd line as we come out of the rebuild in a few seasons.
