Bennett did end up an impactful player. We just never gave him the opportunity here

Draft quality has a lot to do with that. Again, what records did Bennett break in the OHL? I'm pretty sure in 5 years Parekh will be in the top 3 in a redraft model.

Bennett was considered a possible #1 pick.
Parekh went about where he was expected to go.

Sure but this sort of discussion is happening in every NHL city.
Calgary ‘Flames need to move their vets now to hasten the rebuild’
St. Louis ‘Blues need to sell now, Armstrong said we’re open for business’
Vancouver ‘Canucks need to trade Hughes now to maximize value’
Toronto ‘Leafs need to add now’
Edmonton ‘Oilers need to get a goalie right eff’n now’
….and so on. I would just be a bit surprised if Ottawa would trade Yakemchuk, a defenseman they took ahead of Parekh, Dickinson, Silayev, and Buium less than two years ago for a 30 year old who will likely command $8-9M for seven years.
Frankly, that’s just bad business.

No chance the Sens trade Yakemchuk, and if he were being offered to us in a trade- it would have already happened.

And it certainly would not be for Rasmus Andersson regardless of what people like to think Brady Tkachuk thinks.

I have no idea what Tkachuk makes, just that I expect them to make a move this year and be buyers. But that ain’t much of an observation, there are always more buyers than sellers in the NHL because the point of a sports franchise is to try to win.

Oh, I agree. I just think things get a little silly when people start trying to do the mental gymnastics thinking themselves into the Flames getting players like Yakemchuk or Iginla for Kadri, Coleman, or Andersson.
It wasn’t even two years ago a lot of folks here thought Markstrom for Mercer was imminent. And if I recall correctly, the Devils had to make that trade to save their season.

Pittsburgh should take their 2028 1st rather than their 2027 1st. That and one of the Oilers ####ty prospects probably gets the deal done.

I'd rather see them trade 2027. Would make 2026 unprotected

Okay, except Pit is in a playoff spot and they are trading their goalie for nothing?

I don’t see any reason to possibly give the Sharks a better pick (or potentially a better pick)

Seems like a pipe dream for Oilers fans but maybe a 1st and something else gets it done.

I’d say that’s way too much pressure on the kid and the team. Top3 among defense maybe…maybe.

Oilerfans are also insisting that the Oilers are trading Kulak, Pickard and Janmark and a 3rd for Jarry and Wotherspoon with 50% of Jarry's salary retained.
Which amounts to three garbage players and a 3rd from Edmonton for a starting goalie and a cheap and one of the Pen's best defensemen this year plus retaining salary.
Like does every Oiler fan smoke crack?

Quinn Hutson, Pickard and a 2nd. And they don't get Wotherspoon.
For Silovs.

Jarry has a 9-2-0 record this season and Pittsburgh is sitting in a playoff spot (and the Oilers are not). Why would the Pens trade him?

Why would Pittsburgh do that in what looks like the last dance season of Crosby-Malkin-Letang potentially making the playoffs? Jary has a good record for them. He and Silovs are a solid tandem. Would take a major overpay for this to happen IMO.
