Pluribus - New Show From Vince Gilligan on Apple TV

While watching Pluribus with the wife I got her into Better Call Saul as well. You can already tell Pluribus is headed down the same direction of greatness as Saul and Breaking Bad. Kudos to Vince Gilligan for creating yet another phenomenal series. He's 3/3 now... 4/4 if you count his episodes on The X-Files. What an absolutely tremendous run for Vince. Give Rhea Seehorn the Emmy now, there shouldn't even be a conversation.

I haven’t read the thread for fear of spoilers, but I watched most of the first episode and it didn’t grab me at all. The main character isn’t likeable or interesting and it feels like the happy borg people have knowledge of everything seems like such a powerful cheat code that it could make plot development difficult.

I assume I’m wrong, but did others find the first episode underwhelming and does it get better? Full disclosure…someone told me most of the first episode plot so I wasn’t blown away by surprises, but I’ve caught up to what they shared - maybe there’s still something at the end of the episode to hook me?

Of course – of course – instead of playing this revelation in a protracted, thriller-esque way, Gilligan and his team (this episode was written by Vera Blasi and directed by Gandja Monteiro) pull the rug out from under the viewer pretty quickly and squash their own big twist. “Yeah, no duh, HDP is ????,” the show basically says. “You think we haven’t also watched the past 50 years of sci-fi movies!?”

going full Casino Royale in Vegas is like the ultimate cosplay adventure, a holodeck without the holodeck (but more real than a holodeck too). Still, you’d think it would all get pretty boring, pretty fast. For one thing, the cards must be fixed, so where’s the fun in that? At least on the holodeck you always ran the risk of a malfunction! (But man, if the Joined aren’t committed in their performances, even if eye-patch guy screws up at the end.)

I wonder about the ethics of the Others. Plants want their fruit to be picked and eaten. Animals eat the fruit and spread the seeds. Win win.

It's setting up to be interesting and i think there are many different ways the show will/could go. I can see how they look at 3-4 seasons.

I suspect Diaboute will tire of this life sooner rather than later and perhaps join the hive or carol.

They way he talked on the phone to the hive, i suspect he joins the hive. He's in love, and will get pursuaded.

Perhaps a few others may as well.

I suspect the Indian mother may prove to be a villain at some point as well. Perhaps another mishap where a family member is killed? Maybe this is Diabete - doing it for love.

Then you have the hive. what do they do when their existence is threatened? Minosus seems pretty adept at survival.

Next episode is called the gap. I wonder if there will be a Derian Gap scene with Minosus

I trust that Vince (creator of two of the two best series in tv history) is building something special. He also has the best crew.
