Dallas only owns one 1st rounder in the next three drafts. Weak prospect pool too. There's obviously a deal there if Coleman wants to go home, but not exactly the ideal dance partner in terms of assets.

They isn't going to happen, nobody trades an unprotected first nowadays and definitely not for Coleman.

Getting anywhere close to a first for Coleman is a win.

Agree. I laugh at all these proposals for "unprotected 1st or its not happening"

Well, guess what? It ain't happening

Best we can hope for is a protected first that slides to the following year IMO

This is Alberta. We're not getting rid of Coleman. If anything, we're getting more coal, man!

Coleman's contract ends at the conclusion of 2026-27 season. Personally, I would love the trade with Dallas if it means we get Jason Robertson. I don't wanna help Toronto on their post-season run.
Looks up stats of both players on hockeydb

Yup, I too would love a trade of Coleman for Robertson.

Here is something from thehockeywriters.com

Seems to come rg.org and James Murphy "NHL Writer".
I have to hand it to that guy, he's good at making clickbait videos around rumors with less substance than an Eklund hunch.

His channel is doing fairly well for being flames centric.

Still suckers me now and again despite knowing better.

I could see the Flames getting a 2nd+ for Coleman from Dallas. I'd be happy with that. He's 34, has 12 points in 29 games.

I do think he'd be a good fit in Dallas though. He'd be an upgrade in their bottom six.

I'd do a small add to Coleman for :

Cowan from Toronto
Bischel or Bourque from Dallas.

Nothing else worth talking about.

I don't think you need to add to get Bourque. 9 points in 28 games. He's not looking like much.
Bischel would be fantastic.

Emil Hemming is maybe interesting but he's not looking fantastic either.

I would also take a crack at Cam Schmidt.

2nd+Schmidt or Hemming. Or Mans Goos just for the name value alone.

Or somehow get Bischel.

Don't care which flames player is involved, I just want to see us take advantage of a heated bidding war/seller's market and land another Linholm-esque package.

That was the highlight of that season. Took a lot of the sting away from how the season was going on the ice.

It would also likely help further our quest for a top 3 pick.

The time to make a run at him was last summer. That window has passed. He's priced himself out of any Coleman++ package now.

Amazingly, a contingent of people didn't think he was a worthwhile player to target at the time.
I think most people thought maybe an unrealistic target. It was never going to be Coleman++. Coleman would've been a + in the deal even a few months ago.

I'll say two 2nds, a prospect and a salary dump is what we should expect for Coleman

Coaldale and Coalhurst are both linked to Toronto and Dallas. I think that’s what it’s about.

It's not an independent creator though, he's employed by a slop content mill called digest media. There are dozens of channels under the same umbrella.

Remember when Toronto traded an unprotected first to New Jersey for Tim Kurvers? The pick turned into #3 overall Scott Neidermayer who went on to win four Stanley Cups, 5 time all star, a Norris Tropy and a Conn Smyth.

They could do it again.
