I was at Hammersmith for one of the nights they recorded, 16 years old I think, maybe 17, the bulk of the album came from the Glasgow set though I think, Rosalie/cowboy song was always my favorite though
^LOL watching the guitarist shred whilst holding his smoke in his picking hand was something else. Pants so tight they look painted on. What a completely different era for live performance that was.
I loved Brian Robertson, the dude with the smoke, as much for the fact he put his arm up to protect a mate from being glassed in a bar fight, it cut his arm up so badly he couldn't play guitar after and got fired from the band but this is the most Glasgow sh** I have ever heard
'A further tour of the US was planned for December 1976, but it had to be cancelled when, on 23 November, Brian Robertson suffered a hand injury when trying to protect fellow Glaswegian, singer and friend Frankie Miller in a fracas at the Speakeasy Club in London. Miller had been jamming onstage with the reggae band Gonzalez, but had been drunk, offending Gonzalez guitarist Gordon Hunte. Hunte attacked Miller with a bottle in the dressing room, and Robertson intervened, suffering artery and nerve damage to his hand. Robertson subsequently broke Hunte's leg, broke the collarbone of another man, and headbutted another, before being hit on the head with a bottle, rendering him unconscious.'

How is David Byrne 73?? His vocals and energy haven't lost anything on Life During Wartime vs the amazing 40+ years ago performance on Stop Making Sense.

Byrne is easily top 10 front man ever, nobody has ever pulled off manic so eloquently.
He is on the autism spectrum and was a complete dick to his bandmates. Dumped his wife backstage at the Hall of Fame induction. Still love him, and he seems to be doing better.
Great Chicago cover. The guitarist does a note-perfect copy of Terry Kath's epic solo. Terry Kath - the guy that Hendrix said was the best guitarist in the universe.

This is what I'm listening to, right now. A vastly underrated Canadian musical genius.
I find myself saying "That's what passes for (x) these days" a lot now.
I ####ing love Ron's lyrics.
This one is possibly made famous by Feist, but Ron's original is very touching and gets to the core issue of male loneliness...well before that was even a thing.
last, but not least.
whenever I'm feeling a little blue, I pop this on and Ron tells me everything's gonna be alright. What a magical gift to give to the world.
Again, his lyrics are genius. There's more, but that's enough for now.
