I would rather they make the playoffs than end up in a spot where they could draft 1st overall. We all know how that lottery ends.

Brilliant actually, but I would have still ####ing ran for the hills.
I think Katz does some shady stuff and that McDavid is getting paid more through different avenues.

All they have to do is finish 13th overall. No playoffs and no first round draft pick because they would give it to San Jose.

Are you saying they finish in the 13th draft spot? If they finish 13th overall they'll definitely be in the playoffs.

Not trying to be a dick, just want to know exactly what I'm cheering for in this messed up season.

McDavid is very likely getting kickbacks under the table but it's pretty easy for teams rich owners to circumvent as they have lawyers specialized in hiding money from governments. Unlike the NHL, the NFL is very serious when it comes to circumvention and even they couldn't nail the Patriots for it with Brady.

If McDavid is concerned about legacy, at best he can only be the 2nd best Oiler of all time. So signing that two year deal for "legacy" purposes was ####ing dumb.

If he walked to the Leafs at the end of this season, he could have easily become the greatest Leaf of all time.

20th would draft 13th.

I'd prefer them sit 17th so the highest they could move up is to 6th when the lottery balls go in their favour. Being able to move up to 3rd is too dangerous.

I have seen a lot of Oiler fans blaming Skinner for the loss last night.

They scored no goals, gave up only 1 goal but it is the goalies fault. Hilarious.

You'll care when their 3rd pick bumps us to 4th and they take the guy we want.

It's moot anyways, cause no way do they not trade their 2027 1st to add this year.

I just want them to have no hope at all, so mushy middle would be best.

Their first is top 12 protected so as long as they finish 13th they lose their first rounder to San Jose for the Wallman trade.

It would be funny though to see the pick they gave to San Jose move up to a higher spot though as long as it didn't screw over the Flames.

Yeah, but Skinner should have saved that shot from the point. Every NHL goalie stops those kinds of shots. Except, when it is a Bouch bomb no goalie in the league can stop those 80mph shots from the point. There rose colored glasses don't see that those are the same thing. As monster truck didn't call it the Bouch bomb, didn't see the shot speed, but it was probably harder then the typical bouch bomb.

Walldstet would have been abolished from the NHL already if the Oilers had drafted him instead of trading that pick.

Dom's (Athletic) blurb on the Oilers ...

Quote:
Edmonton’s Net Rating fell more than any team, a staggering 28 goals that puts the team on high alert compared to previous seasons, where a slow start was met with just a shrug from the model. “They’ll be fine” is a lot harder to say this time around given how poor the Oilers look at five-on-five.

Honestly the Oilers missing the playoffs softens the blow a lot of the Flames rebuild season.

Their draft slot is not a huge deal unless they fluke out and win the lotto or something. They will have to trade anything that isn't bolted down futures wise over the next year and a half to maximize any chance they have of winning in the last 2.5 years they have McDavid. Only bearing of them being bad this year is maybe they have a slightly higher pick to trade for help if they punt the pick owed over to San Jose to 2027

If they miss the playoffs it's likely going to be in the range of 14-16 I would think. I can see them going on a heater or two for a bit but not sustained like years past.

I dont see them as a team that will fight to the end. I bet if they're out of it late, Mcdavid, Draisaitl etc display some of the worst effort we've ever seen. It seems to happen any game they've been down a few goals. They get stomped because they completely give up
