I am considering starting to cheer for face-off losses, but I don't know where that places me on the spectrum.

I'm cheering for the young guys to show progress, the tradeable assets to play well thus increasing their value and most of all some lottery luck. Cheering specifically for losses is a fools errand for a top pick as a whole lot more (mainly luck) goes into it.

Yeah, I mean, they played pretty badly last game and almost won

Cooley again, so stupid and short sighted

It was stupidity when they wore Wolf out playing him 18/21

Equally stupid now to sit him in what's effectively 6/7 games

Doesn't seem like it. The rest of your post seems like you're more worried about defending your fan credentials and making this about "fan quality" (completely silly) than having an honest conversation about what makes sports fun and why championships other people win can still feel so sweet to an observer.

You couldn't even answer why you care if they win a cup in your lifetime.

Suggesting that finding joy and entertainment in something that solely exists to provide those two things is performing "cosplay enthusiasm" makes my point better than I could.

No they don't. You're missing the point because you're too worried about fan status (and therefore obsessed with seeing everything through that lens).

I don't have to list every example of fans that enjoy wins or championships more because of the journey to that point. You could probably come up with a couple dozen in about 10 seconds, so suggesting it has no bearing is nonsense.

We're equal as fans. You're just passing up opportunities to actually enjoy the ride (because again, what you enjoy has zero impact on the result, so you're robbing yourself for no reason), which means you're missing out and will probably continue to do so. If you're fine with that then there's nothing to get defensive about.

I dunno...I'm not inclined to think so. Maybe Wolf just needs a little re-set?

He's still the undisputed #1 but everyone needs some pine and door time every now and again.

So now playing the hot goalie is bad coaching?

This is what I was getting at before: once you decide the coach is bad, EVERYTHING they do becomes a problem and a reason for criticism. It's ridiculous.

Maybe you should take Cooley's advice on this one.

Huska would be a moron if he played the hot goalie. He would also be a moron if he sat the hot goalie for a guy who looked really bad in Tampa. Those are the option.

Not necessarily...who is our EBUG? Can we play him?

I just don't want them sitting the guy they just committed 7 more years too because they are riding the hot hand.

To me it's a decision more focused on winning today than winning long term.

Same reason it was stupid to run Wolf into the ground so early in the season. More focused on winning one game than having a good plan for the entire year.

Heard the lines from warm up. It’s seeming like Lomberg is becoming a secondary player.

I don’t think blindly rotating starts is much of a plan but to each their own.

How is that any different from you defending everything the coach does?

Because coaches and players play for the short term

Players should play for the short term.

Huska needs to be able to manage to the short and medium term outcomes.

And if Huska turns the season around, career wise it is better for him, and if Cooley helps that out right now.( I don’t disagree with you totally, but can understand why Huska is doing it)( I am considering this whole season as short term)

Playing Wolf so much at the start of the year did seem a little dumb to me, goalies very rarely play 3 in 4 nights and seemed unnecessary especially with the travel. One possible reason is that Cooley was so putrid in his last exhibition start that Huska may have wanted to give him more practice time.

Cooley getting plenty of rest between starts now, I have zero issue with his usage. He's playing great.
