Now the LSU about face on their attempt to screw over Kelly makes sense. They needed to assuage his fears he'd be treated the same way eventually. I'm not sure what LSU's QB pipeline looks like but I wonder if Chambliss follows Lane

Michigan may want to consider covering guys on 3rd down. Also don’t try and head butt a ref when you’re showing him how a guy headbutted you. Two things to work on

I would also encourage Michigan to try and utilise the forward pass a bit more often. I know they won this game last year without it, but that was the exception and not the rule.

Moore is a dog#### coach and his staff is trash. Imagine getting the top recruit in the country and not coaching him up to be able to pass the ball. Couldn't be me.

Tell Portnoy to go make some more brodude content to afford a good coach. Maybe splurge on a punter who doesn't punt 11 yards lol.

The only positive of today is that Moore should be on the hot seat. Guy needs 250 yards rushing to compete with good teams.

Watching the Lane Kiffen drama tonight has been fascinating.

All of this drama for a coach who might not even be a great coach is the kicker for me. Although it is too bad we didn't get the late curve ball of the Alabama job coming open so that Lane could stiff both LSU and Ole Miss to go to Alabama instead.

How many years before he god to Alabama? You know that’s where he really wants to be.

The fans booing him as he got on the PJ was pretty funny.

Oh I know, he's so going to do it to LSU too. Due to my Saints fandom, I've got a bunch of people on my timeline who also moonlight as LSU fans. I'm amused reading all their initial excitement, as I already know its going to turn to rage in 3-5 years. And they'll act like they never saw it coming when he does it to them..

NCAA has to get this resolved, it's turning into a disaster. Push the portal entry timeline back a few months and no hiring coaches away from other teams until the season is complete. This is going to continue otherwise, and it's not fair to players, coaches, or fans.

With the high school recruiting and signing periods, specifically how the December early signing period has become the most important one of those for HS players, this is not a portal issue by any means. If he wanted to stay he should have signed a long term contract with Ole Miss.

You want fair? Play coed softball.

There seems to be a decent amount of smoke that DeBoer could still leave Alabama this year. So we may not yet be done with the Lane train drama club.

Yeah I don't get why coaches are just allowed to ditch their team mid-season to take another job like that. LSU did the same thing to Notre Dame back when they hired Kelly, before ND's bowl game...the Tigers are kinda home-wreckers. They have it coming to them when Kiffin inevitably does it again, probably for Bama as mentioned.

But Lane bolting for Bama would probably need to be pretty quick, if we get to year three at LSU and he's on a Kelly trajectory his next coaching stop after being fired from LSU might be DeVry.

I mean this is a silly comment. If a team can fire a couch why can’t a coach leave?

The sad thing here is LSU is going to be good and Kiffen will get his natty.

Why is it silly? With firing a coach, there's probably a contingency plan already in place by the team, to minimize bumps. Plus, if you're firing them, it's probably become a toxic (or at least, losing) situation...it's basically addition by subtraction at that point. With coach suddenly leaving, especially in crunch time like this, it's quite the rug pull on everyone.

In the NHL, should the coach be able to quit on his team right before the playoffs, to go sign with another team? IMO this stuff should be offseason only.

You want to contractually force coaches to continue employment somewhere they don't want to be? That is a great idea for the program and students. You'd have to follow that up with guarantees the school can only fire you during that same period and modify the transfer portals and recruiting periods accordingly. Perhaps im not worldly enough but I've never heard of a contract that doesn't allow you to quit. If those are common and I'm uninformed I'll take that L I spose

Quitting is one thing, but we're talking about other teams being able to hire active coaches to their teams mid-season. Why are teams allowed to interview current coaches for lateral moves mid-season anyway? It's odd. And results in people who routinely do it - like Kiffin - to be widely reviled for it, as we're seeing.
