LOL. To be honest, that Zoox robotaxi post was supposed to go in the X Transgressions thread, as talk there was shifting towards Amazon but I figured I’d let it slide and here we are getting called out for it. My bad.

Yes, 3 different places. It does not rhyme but I don't want to stir the pot too much until I reach out the dealer/management directly to confirm if video footage can confirm my suspicion.

It's possible yes but I can't see a scenario where any competent tech, let alone a master tech and shop foreman would forget to wipe the magnetic drain plug.
This was on Monday with the fresh snow and visually I did see them not following proper procedure for the CVT fluid. Didn't road test the car to warm up fluid, the entire procedure took approx 25 minutes including driving into/out of bay when it should be closer to 40 all things considered. Some items were checked during the drain/fill service and I can confirm those items such as tire tread wear, hoses etc. It's just very obvious they didn't do everything checked on the inspection report. Checking boxes for the sake of checking boxes.
I talked to the tech for about 5 minutes when he pulled my car up and moved onto the next job, clearing snow. Seems strange to have your shop foreman clearing snow off cars when he can be doing more important things.

Or I can retrofit park heat using a remote-controlled fuel burning heater for far less money than an EV costs AND I get to keep my soul.
Although cheaper still, I can just park indoors / underground as much as possible.

Now you are asking the OP to build a heated garage or possibly move to a new house with an attached heated garage because that’s cheaper? Who is out of touch now?

I think this mostly comes down to your expectations of perfection from auto shops, of all places, maybe a bit high for today's society. Have you met people recently? FWIW my dad used to clean snow of vehicles and do all sorts of "above his title" little jobs, because that's what it means to be an owner or be in charge. You do what needs to be done.

Or…. Simply having to touch the brake pedal to start a physically keyed ignition is bananas and that’s the end of the complaint. I could just get a remote car starter for a couple hundred bucks ya donkeys.

You can join the secret Santa Scroopy and enjoy a bottle of scotch while you shop online for your remote starter on Boxing Day.

The cost of winterizing a garage is a lot cheaper than the cost of a new car.

I get the sense the OP doesn’t have a garage to begin with. And I didn’t realize we were factoring in all in costs for the life of the solution. I was simply throwing out the fact that in the case of a cold start, it was possible to do it very easily using an app with an EV. Maybe the next vehicle one chooses might now include an EV for this reason. Or maybe they will think about the repeated cold morning starts the next time they are in the market for a new home and consider the parking situation more carefully. Regardless their gears are currently being ground. I thought the point was to suggest ways to ungrind them.

Suggesting an EV for somebody without a garage who is concerned about the cold seems kinda dumb.

So he should just imagine a hypothetical insulated garage that he doesn’t have then? I think we both whiffed this one. The remote starter is the obvious solution for now.

Or, I mean, if you want to risk it, a smart plug and a small space heater will set you back $50 or something.

You've missed the possibility that he just doesn't have feet, or a single foot in this case.
Anyway, why don't y'all have one of your help start your car for you and bring it around like Locke and I do.
