The only thing better would be arriving to a warm vehicle waiting Curbside to take me home less expensively than paying to store my own car unused.

It’s so good. It’s the kind of thing I didn’t even know I needed until I had it!

Well, I don’t know if you’d die immediately, but carbon monoxide poisoning is the real deal, so to speak. It’s not exactly something to mess around with.

Probably not great for the engine either, as it will be running low on oxygen the longer it idles. And the cabin will be full of CO, so you will have to air it out, or die. And then all the cold air comes in.

GMG's how often I come across professional trades people cutting corners, any person in their work actually. It's one thing to say you can't or won't do something but it's another thing to lie when it can cost significant money down the road.
Took an older work truck in for service at a dealership since my 1st experience was amazing and the work required (CVT trans service) I wanted confidence in the work. Got the top tech and shop foreman to do the work, great!
Same thing 10k later and also a great experience! The quick multi point inspection report indicates all sorts of things checked and most probably were. Rear Dif, transfer case was checked and all good but when I took the car to another tech I use for more work a few days later and he asks about my last time changing the fluids, shows me drain plugs and covered in metal material, clearly never checked. Why lie dealership? I will gladly pay $125 for the service, its required!
2 weeks ago take my fathers new RAV 4 for oil change way earlier than called for as I don't like long oil change intervals. I have pre-paid for 6 oil changes and extended warranty. Everybody trying to talk me out of it on the phone and in person so I am concerned they won't do the work. I place some tape over the access panel and do a few other little things as a test. Low and behold the work most likely NOT done yet I was charged. This occurred with them fully knowing I am friends with management so now I have to have an uncomfortable conversation with them.
Doing quality work on expensive items is important. This isn't like lying that some special item on the menu at a restaurant is amazing when it may not be, this has financial repercussions. Be dilligent out there, keep proof and if you catch people in lies, call them out!

Are there two different companies involved here or just the dealer? What do you mean the work was most likely not done? Are you uncertain if your trick proved your suspicion? Everything they did should be written up in their report. If they said they changed the oil or used however many litres they used of such and such fluid, that is normally always in the service report. Also, if you are suspicious, I wouldn’t mention your tape trick at all when you go back to talk to them. If you bring it up, they would probably just hand wave it off and say they put it back or whatever.

Quick summary: Dealership#1: Went for CVT fluid drain and fill twice with positive experience. Multi point inspection reports indicate diff/transfer case fluid checked and condition/level is good. Today I took the car to another mechanic who I trust for cheaper/ easier work as he works from home with my intension to change the above fluids. The drain plugs were covered in metal indicating fluid condition poor but no way that much metal accumulated in a matter of days, it was never checked.
The Toyota dealership another story where the oil change does not appear to have been completed but records would indicate otherwise. Short of video evidence and me personally looking at drain plug/oil pan, I have enough reason to suspect they just didn't do it.

Ironically within the context of the EV complaints they actually have no gears to grind...

Do you mean the metal filings stuck to the drain plug magnet? Is it possible they just didn't wipe those off?

Are there 3 different places involved then? Dealer #1, Mechanic, Dealer #2? Which Toyota dealer was it? Does it rhyme with Duntry Bills?

You posted a gear grinder. I proposed a clear solution, in keeping with the spirit of the thread. Suck it.

The new driverless robotaxi currently operating in Las Vegas called Zoox is owned by Amazon. A pleasant alternative to other competitors you might wish to avoid.

I dont even bother changing the oil or tires on my car. I just throw it away and buy a new one.

Yep, love my Lightning.
Of course my wife's gas car does all that stuff we're talking about too, I just love not paying for gas

Yeah, but along with not paying for gas (or oil changes or other things like that), you also don’t have to go to the gas station, which is so awesome!

Me too. It just got to be too much hassle to have my mechanic #2 check the work of my mechanic #1 to verify that they did what I asked. Always have to go back and get #1 to brush up on their service. They could never explain why my file kept getting flagged.
Now I just hit whatever dealer is across the street and buy the first car I see out of spite.

Is Brupal the new springs1? Just swap ranch dressing with robotaxis and the posts seem eerily similar
