I've seen this said a lot - Even on Barn Burner. But why would this make anyone feel any better?
Camera or not, I have lost confidence in him.

It sure feels like they are on a mission to alienate the die hard fans.
Fans: "Why isn't Craig Conroy signed to an extension yet?"
Flames: "We won't talk about those internal negotiations at this time."
Fans: "Huh? Are you re-signing him or not?"
Flames: "..."
Flames: "Hey guess what we re-signed Craig Conroy to a two year extension! We also signed Don Maloney to a two year extension!"
Fans: "Well that's mostly good news, but did you really have to sign Maloney?"
Flames: "Well, we actually signed all of them prior to the start of the season."
Fans: "..."

Before two bad interviews, Maloney has been an after thought. I don’t know one way or the other if he has had any positive or negative impact on actual hockey decisions

The contracts were tied up in CNRL’s supply chain group.

Francis claiming the deals were done before the start of the season.

Funnily enough, I gained a little bit of confidence in Maloney during his time as interim GM. The totality of his work in that role was:
1. Firing Darryl Sutter
2. Shooting down speculation that he'd be the permanent GM (he even said he wasn't the one to lead the team into the future or something to that effect)
3. Promoting Craig Conroy
Needless to say the confidence is gone now lol. But at least Conroy's sticking around.

and ya know, maybe that's on us for not really acknowledging how stupid of a move it was.
We all sat here and tore apart the Bean and Maloney interview hard, but Bean took most of the heat.
Bean gone.
Maloney still here, and he should have taken more heat back then.
He was, is, and will always be looked at as a terrible hire. I don't know how anyone looks at what he did in Arizona but then can also be openly critical of Buffalo. You know how you save yourself from becoming Buffalo? Getting rid of Maloney would be a good first step. It's legitimately like having a Ghost standing in your bedroom yelling at you "Don't go in the closet! There are ghosts in there!".

If anybody deserves an extension, it's our scouts. They have been just outstanding.

I know it is inevitable for there to be a target for the fans' wrath given the team's current standings, but Maloney wasn't going to be fired.

They simply didn't need to extend him.

Ownership seems to like Maloney more than Burke. I think I can figure out why.

not before the season but it was rumored (at the time) that Craig's deal was done a week or so in but they didn't want to announce it when they were so buns and the optics.
I mean it was discussed on this site, maybe just in passing

It’s say in the tweet the press release contained that info. Doesn’t mean Francis knew
