News Roundup
One secret to Blake Coleman’s strong start? The Flames forward is finally healthy
Coleman, who can finally forget about a back injury that lingered far too long, has arguably been the Flames’ best forward this fall.
Flames’ Rasmus Andersson Addresses ‘Crazy’ Trade Rumors
As the Calgary Flames continue to plummet in the standings, speculation around a potential fire sale will only intensify as the trade deadline approaches.
One of Calgary’s most-coveted players, Rasmus Andersson, is well aware he’s at the center of speculation.
Flames and Rasmus Andersson ‘not even close’ on contract talks: Friedman
The club’s standings reality, combined with some impressive performances from younger players in the organization, have led to increasing conversations in fan circles about the club potentially moving on from some older players.
First and foremost in that group? Rasmus Andersson, who’s on an expiring contract and is slated to become an unrestricted free agent on July 1.
What took so long? Flames poised to extend Conroy’s contract, and it’s the right move
Calgary Flames general manager Craig Conroy was in Lethbridge on Wednesday, busy scouting the next crop of could-be stars when word leaked that his own future had been clarified.
Article content
According to Sportsnet’s ace insider Elliotte Friedman, the Flames and Conroy are “making progress on a contract extension.” If it’s not already, it will soon be a done deal.

Day late, but I am thankful for GDTs! You guys really rock these GDTs! So much wicked Flames coverage. Probably one of the top three features of this community. Thanks!

I think the Flames will be much better today. Huby and Weegs always want to do well against their old squad. Coin flip for me if the Flames win this one or not

Loss is OK. Win against the champs is also OK.

Afternoon game on a work day.
Do I want to do the horrible, boring thing that makes me want to claw my eyes out while I do it... or do I want to work?

I’ll second that. Ton of work put in each game. Sometimes more than the Flames put in.

It will be interesting to see how Wolf bounces back (assuming he starts). Wednesday was the third time this season he was pulled and he played strong in his next game the two previous times.
- After allowing 5 goals on 19 shots, he was pulled after the second period on October 18 in Vegas. He started the next game against Winnipeg, and although it was a loss, he only allowed 2 goals on 27 shots.
- On November 1, he allowed 3 goals on 11 shots in one period against Nashville. He started the next day in Philly and only allowed 1 on 18 shots and the Flames won 2-1.

In the spirit of Thanksgiving I just want to say how incredible these GDT’s are. It’s been said many times but the amount of news and information packed in here is incredible. It is really amazing.
Thank you Cheese.

And mine is 65.
He was an Oiler destroyer in the playoffs when he played for the Kings.
As a Flame, he was utilized as a defensive specialist, and IIRC, he scored a 3 on 5 shortie against the Greasers. Unfortunately, he was part of the Brett Hull trade - I always felt his absence was a big reason the Flames got blown out by the Oilers in the '88 playoffs.

Exactly the reason why I'll always have a soft spot for the Bruins. They stopped Vancouver.
