Well I think it was a yearly thing. '72? Something like that.

Either way, she was definitely on the level as those names.

Tool
Pink Floyd

System of a Down
White Stripes
Slipknot

Does Warren Zevon count?

The Trews
Clutch
Perfect Circle
Puscifer

And a bunch already listed in this thread, but Tool and Floyd are my Mt Rushmore. Just those two. It's a two-group Rushmore. Ps. Waters > Gilmour (although Waters + Glimour > any other iteration, post-Barrett).

There are two kinds of people. Those who love The Trews and those of us who say, "Who the #### are The Trews"?

Cheap Trick and Thin Lizzy should probably be in this conversation as well.

Also, I think the Breeders are great and I'd have them in my top 5. Especially if you include the Kim Deal solo and Amps work.

Thin Lizzy’s album Chinatown is one of the best classic rock albums that most classic rock fans have never heard.

When I was a teen I always enjoyed laughing my ass off to the titles of Anal #### songs, so while they are not the best band ever since they mostly suck, I got more enjoyment out of that then I did listening to many other bands, and that has to count for something.

I'm going to pull an Audioslave and say Hum is the best band.

This is fun. I guess you have to quantify what 'best' means. Most impactful? I mean even though I wouldn't say I'm a fan, for that I'd have to say The Beatles

I mean... if we're talking "what is the greatest rock band of all-time spanning the entire known and unknown universe" then the only obvious answer is TOOL.

And here's an entire live concert for you to enjoy while basking in the finality of the above statement:

I saw Tool in Winnipeg back in what must have been 1993 or around then. I can't remember the venue, but it was on the smaller side. They played with Failure who were a pretty good band in their own right back then. I wouldn't say I am huge fan (I only know their more popular songs, which I like enough), but it was definitely one of the best shows I have been to. They were super intense and the sound was great. Maynard definitely didn't mail it in.

I don't know if it is schtick he does or if something really bothered him about Winnipeg, but Maynard was constantly hurling insults at the crowd in between songs. Calling people rednecks and hicks, making fun of the cars people drive in Winnipeg, and stuff like that. In particular, he mentioned how disrespectful people were for showing up late after the opening act finished. He made some statement about how people in L.A. wouldn't do something like that, which sounded kind of snobby. Nobody in the crowd seems to mind though. It was like yaaaayyyy, insult us more!
