The Penguins are 12th and the Oilers are 24th. I think Weekes is confusing the buyer and the seller.

Is Jary still being deployed as the starter in Pittsburgh? If he is, I doubt the penguins would want to trade him when they are in a playoff spot in the “last dance” season for the Malkin-Crosby-Letang group.

Seems like trading their pick is almost guaranteed. They have three seasons of McDavid, they have to be going for it in these years. If this team craters, absolutely no one will be around to see any of these draft picks actually play.

I imagine they will trade him in the last year of his contract which should bring in a couple of 1st round picks and/or top organizational prospects. However those picks/prospects will be from likely a winning organization which means that they won't be top 15 quality.

Dream trade scenario is the Oilers trade their 1st in 27 in this deal making the 1st they traded in 26 unprotected.
Jarry and Clifton 50% RS
for
Skinner, Kulak, #1 Edm 27 and Howard
Jarry comes to Edmonton and struggles just like Campbell, Skinner or whoever else they throw in net.
Pittsburgh gets a top 10 pick and Skinner and Silovs (Canucks traded him why?) play well and the Penguins make the playoffs. They trade their 1st and the Oilers 1st at next draft for a star player and Sid wins another cup before McDavid gets his 1st

Me too but I don't think he will.
Obviously I'm no pro-scout or a goalie expert but I saw him a lot in WHL and I thought he would never make the NHL... let alone be on a team that makes the finals... in back to back years.
He has some weak spots that suggest he isn't a starter... I'm sure people thought the same about Dubnyk when he was with Edmonton so who knows.

Zero reason for Pittsburgh to trade Jarry. He has a 0.914 SV%, not an unreasonable contract, and the Pens are in the upper third of the league.
The types of deals put out there by Oilers fans are just insane. There is not a fan base in the league with less hockey knowledge than the Oilers. I read a deal on HFOilers last night that was,
To EdM
Binnington (50%)
To StL
Mangiapane
Kulak
Frederic
Skinner
Three out of four of those players would clear waivers right now. In no deal proposals would they even consider their 2027 1st, Howard, or Savoie. Howard and Savoie are basically tweeters at this point. Such a ridiculous overvaluing of their teams assets, zero sense of reality.

That's hilarous. They are so dumb up there.
I'll play St. Louis.
Mangiapane: Why exactly do we want moldy bread? We have no need on a rebuilding team for a weak 4 goal $3.6M winger who's UFA in 2027. If he has to be in the deal to make the cap work along with things we want, then maybe we'll think about it.
Kulak: Yeah sure he's a decent #6, overpaid 6 mind you, and we've got lots of those. This guy is UFA at the end of the year, so again, we're just doing you roster/cap favours here and not getting anything for our future.
Frederic: So you made a big mistake signing this scrub to an 8 year deal and now that you regret it you're trying to dump it on us? Not unless you're giving us your 2027 and 2028 1sts to take this on. If you do that though, remind us again what you're giving us for Binnington?
Skinner: Goalie in - goalie out, yeah we get it, and sure he's a UFA at the end of the year so we can have him lose games for us to help our lottery pick and then let him go so sure we'll agree to that. Still though, you haven't given us anything of value to get us to give you Jordan.
Oh, and you want us to retain 50%?? click.

The best is thinking that any team would take on Frederic's newly signed 8 year contract. I'm still flabbergasted the Oilers would sign a replaceable bottom 6 forward to an 8 year contract. It makes no sense whatsoever to tie yourself to a guy like that for almost a decade.
