Problem is, I need a 77 or 83… although maybe for the other room…

My bedroom TV gave up the ghost on displaying a picture. It was a 32 inch Samsung that lasted for 15 years.

Naturally, I bought a Samsung again because of how long it lasted. Unfortunately, I bought a Samsung 32 inch F6000 on Sunday and now it has intermittent sound and the occasional purple or green lines that run through the display.

Does anyone have any recommendations on a smaller TV? I'd want minimum 1080p and am willing to move up to a 42 or 43 inch size television if necessary. I don't play video games but would like to be able to watch a little Netflix on it. The television would be primarily for watching the news and Flames games.

Help me Obi Wan Kenobi; you're my only hope.

What are your true needs and budget?

Without knowing, and I know others will give a good recommendation, I'll be a little different and recommend looking at a Samsung the Frame.

It's much more expensive than other options at $700, but will do what you want, but is also intended for an application that's unique to most other TV applications as well. It's got an art aesthetic/slim fit profile that no other TVs can match. It's also a good TV to either run art mode, or some people load up a bunch of the pictures and just have it display their high res pics like a large expensive print that would cost hundreds of dollars to print, or somewhat hide the fact it's a TV when not being used as a TV. IMO in a bedroom, that few inches in the profile also makes the bedroom seem a little bigger and tidier.

The only way to justify this TV is to consider the application more than a TV and that it's doing some non-TV stuff that other TVs cannot do.

I need to be able to watch the nightly news and Flames games. Budget is approximately $550-600. I'll pay more to get something that will last a bit though. Apparently $250 doesn't cut it for a utility television any more.

I'm not sure The Frame is a great choice for me as I won't be wall mounting it and wouldn't be interested in using it to display art prints. Just not my bag.

I’d love an LG C5. But the bank account says no. Maybe there will be a price drop over the holidays.

I was at Walmart last week for passport photos.

They had a 55" OLED TV there for around 500.00...

Smaller units were cheaper as well.

Should be able to get a good / better deal tomorrow.

I think your needs are in a weird spot. Many 32" televisions seem to be old stock or old parts or something since they're 720p or 1080p. 40"+ you're in 4K territory, but there's a huge range of budget to performance from a $200-1200 price point in that size range.

$550-600 should be more than enough for a decent TV for your needs.

They dont make most 32" TVs 4k because you will never notice the diffence on a screen that small

Yeah, that's also why I assumed the "new" 32" TV Reaper got ended up being a dud. They don't bother trying hard to make something really good in that size range these days. The margins and headaches on those probably suck compared the the 40-43" range.

Like, without going on rtings, I think something like this for $160 might be solid and it's 1080p, but I think if he keeps buying "new" 720p/1080p tvs, they'll be more budget/disposable than a quality TV to use for a long time. The 40" is $200 and also 1080p.

If truly aiming for something quality, then maybe something like this 32" from LG would be one I'd consider the most for $200.

http://www.amazon.ca/LG-32-Inch-LR65...%2C130&sr=8-31

There's lots of 40-43" TVs in the $300-500 range too if Reaper wants the size upgrade. I think that's where the quality TVs may be vs the <40" range.

I ended up ordering this 32 inch Samsung from Costco because for an extra $35 I could make the warranty six years.

It arrives today so fingers crossed that its a good one. I would have gone up sized to 42 or 43 inches but I didn't want it to completely brighten the room while my wife was trying to sleep.
