Why's that? Due diligence of exploring what you have in the organization =/= going back to the same player over multiple seasons despite them never being quite good enough to grab a full time spot.
You make no sense.

Marty is the man but he's probably more of an "adda boy/good soldier" callup later in the year than a "exploring what you have in the organization" callup. Which I'm totally fine with in garbage time honestly.
124 NHL games, plenty of sample size. Can bomb pucks better than most which would rock on a PP in the dog days but he's missing some of the other attributes that would make him a full time NHLer.

Many/most liked Kuznetsov's play better in camp. That might be coming through.

He isn't injured. First Ahcan took his spot in the lineup, then Girard got healthy and returned to the lineup in mid November. They sent Ahcan down to the Eagles, so Solo is their designated popcorn muncher as the 7th/8th D.

Sarcasm aside ... calling a player up to not play and eat popcorn isn't blocking any prospects from getting their look see.

I think Solo will also be good once he's given his shot..

Hunt isn’t supposed to “grab a spot.” He’s supposed to be a quality vet and mentor on the farm, sometimes be the 13th forward in the bigs and occasionally, in a pinch, step into the lineup. This is a role and he fills it very well. And yes people would absolutely 100% light their hair on fire if 32 year old expiring contract Frk was promoted.

I'll have no tolerance for players without Vowels in their last name! The line must be drawn HERE! This far! NO FURTHER!!

Nice to see Kuz rounding into form. He’s looking like the Steady Eddie he was drafted to be.

It would be nice to see Brz get the odd call-up soonish, but Kuz can also serve as a reminder that it's important to give defenceman a little more runway when it comes to development. Could Kuz have been called up earlier? Maybe, I personally don't know. But he's impressed me with how seamlessly he's settled in.

But that future d-corps you have listed is not championship caliber. This team needs to not settle on mediocrity and we need to shoot for the next Hughes/Heiskenen/Werenski/etc.

Yeah. The Flames should definitely replace Kuznetzov with a Hughes/Heiskenen/Werenski calibre d-man. Then replace Sharangovich, Lomberg and Klapka with McDavid, Eichel and MacKinnon.

We haven't given Parekh the right opportunity to show whether or not he's the Hughes/Heiskenen on the roster. He should be with Bahl when he comes back.
Kuz-Brzu is already a known quantity from AHL time and will be a good middle pair, I am pretty sure of that at this point.
Weegar better be ok with playing bottom 4 minutes.

I am really pleased that Kuznetsov is proving himself to be solid at the NHL. I definitely felt that he could have been doing this last year in place of Hanley and I am glad that he didn't get picked up when he hit waivers so he could get to this point with the org.
All of the talk about trading for other teams' versions of Kuznetsov was driving me a bit crazy.
The great thing about the future D-corp is that it is almost all potential. Kuznetsov, Parekh, Brzustewicz, and Morin all have potential to hit higher levels. Behind them we still have guys like Poirier and Mews that have been derailed by injuries but could still surprise us if/when they get a chance.
I wouldn't be upset if we picked up a high-end talent for the left side but for now with Bahl and Kuznetsov I think it is safe to say that we do not need a LD unless they have star potential and that is a good place for the Flames to be.

Lol
Prove to me that he WOULD have been good two years ago.
Or, we can just be happy he's here now and looking pretty decent without trying to manufacture some sort of Flames failure out of it.

The other great thing about the future d corps is the average age of them. Growing and getting better in their prime for like 7-10 years at least.

24? Another washed up vet just takin space for young guys. If the flames hadn’t held him back at 19 maybe he could have been something.
