Open table just released their list of the top 100 restaurants and based on the ones I've been to in Calgary, Vancouver and Toronto, it seems like a pretty decent list.

https://www.opentable.ca/c/en/top-restaurants/top-100/

If she's up for a steak dinner, Chairman's I'm sure would fit the bill for a "tablecloth" dinner.

If not, Fleur De Sel or Teatro might also work.

Wellingtons has tablecloths. Chairmans maybe? I can't think of anything that has a tablecloth other than a steakhouse.

Good list

I went to Portage in NFLD this past summer.

It was a great dinner.

Also had a meal at Pat and Betty, really good

Thanks for posting this

Yeah if that senile bat wants a tablecloth the options narrow down significantly.

My friend owned and managed a restaurant in NW Calgary. The monthly bill for tablecloths was outrageous.

Went to IBU last night. I just assumed it was sushi. It is not sushi. No sushi. Was pretty good. Cauliflower was the star, Mushrooms meh, potstickers were potstickers. Huge portions for appetizers. Made us not order mains. Told the waiter they should probably reduce portion size.
Finally went to UBU on the weekend as well- Cauliflower and Brussel Sprouts were amazing(coming from someone who dislikes both)
We also had crispy pork belly appy with an egg dip (awesome) potstickers I agree were decent. Mains were Scallops and more pork belly (wouldn't do again based on portion/cost) Charred Chicken was good, Tenderloin I would order elsewhere, Miso cod was delicious. Great quality food I think, looking forward to going back, maybe even just for the Spicy Mango Margarita.

Yeah, for your audience, this is an excellent suggestion. It didn't blow me away, but my tastes tend to run more to Asian flavours. But, the oldies will lap up the name and the ambience, and the fact that the servers will trip over themselves to make them feel special. They can likely even puree G'mas food so it doesn't get stuck in her partial...

Vintage group has a 20% bonus on gift cards for Black Friday, so good chance to cut your expenditure a bit. Spend $800 and you'll end up with $960. That basically covers the costs for 4 people to have the 9 course set menu.

Even better then, make her life miserable (note: I have no idea if they have tablecloths there).

Lot's of options for restaurants. Table cloth is a nice but missing addition to a lot of dining options these days. Most classic steakhouses like Caesars and Wellington's will have table cloth as well most classic Greek/Italian/French places. Let me know what part of town you live and I can give some options as well.

You got young in laws if the grandmother is only 75 so it's nice that your family get's a chance to make some good memories

No PTSD with me.

It’s an unusual request, she’s an old hippy from Denmark and is very down to earth but has been going through some sort of cancer and has bad asthma from hucking darts and other maladies. I don’t want to suggest to my wife but this might be her last birthday. They got money so that wouldn’t be a problem.
