I know we are not supposed to judge people by their appearance or the sound of their last name, but this guy should be the exception.
When he was part of the Coyotes organization, it was easy to look at him and say "That's why they Suck". I hate the fact that he is in the Calgary Flames organization. Hearing him talk only makes it worse.

Sutter was great in his time
His time just ran out
Then you have to go all the way back to Cliff Fletcher/Bob Johnson era
I can’t even think of one front office person that is worth keeping, maybe Conroy just because he hasn’t done anything yet

Conroy has only had 2 full seasons and took over quite the mess. I think any GM needs 5 years or so to really see results. Unless they do something completely negligent, which I don't think he has. The Sharangovich contract is probably the worst decision, but I also think 9/10 GMs would have done the same thing at the time.

I don't see how this would improve the team.

Todd Button? Scouting seems strong.
How are you evaluating the front office? Do you know who they are and what they do?

Yeah I don’t disagree
At the end of the day, I think Conroy will be judged by his draft picks, nothing else matter if they don’t turn out

I don’t know, usually if the whole organization suck that bad, they just clean out the whole mess and let the new guy try something new

I would love to know what they all do.
When they rolled out Conroy as the new GM, a big part of the discussion at the time was having a robust and experienced management team to "assist" Conroy in areas of "weakness". It was actually pretty cringey at the time and didn't sound confident. They specifically mentioned contract stuff, which makes me think that when it comes to contracts, Conroy may not have a lot of control. His worst decision to date is probably the Sharangovich contract, and based on that whole presser when CC was hired, I have my doubt that was even him.
When you have two guys (Maloney and Nonis) who were GMs in the past, and particularly Nonis who was a candidate for the job himself (as was Pascal I believe), it doesn't sound like a great situation for a guy like Conroy to assert himself as a new GM. Basically they hired two guys to assist him who also wanted the job.
I am 100% for keeping Conroy, but I think you need to make sure that he isn't getting pushed around. He doesn't seem like a guy like say Marc Bergevin who will just take the power and tell the other guys to get bent.

Conroy is highly touted across the league according to experts, if he doesn't get an extension here he will almost certainly get a GM position somewhere else

And if they let Conroy walk, it will probably be Nonis or Pascall taking over.

Do you think Conny is aligned with Maloney's vision he laid out in those interviews? If so, both should go.
If Conny isn't aligned and is trying to rebuild and Don won't let him, firing Don will help the team because this team needs star power and you get star power by tanking and drafting high.

Conny was thrust into a difficult situation and he's done he's done an admirable job navigating through troubled waters. I'm sure plenty around the NHL have taken notice of the work he's done to date. I'm sure he would land on his feet quickly as GM or AGM with another organization.
It's unfortunate Conroy has to work under Maloney who was the man that did a poor job running the Coyotes and is probably partially the reason Treliving turned into a terrible GM. It's clear that Edwards really likes him which unfortunately means he's going to probably be with the organization for a long time.

Imagine the nuclear catastrophe on here if Conroy isn't resigned, and Maloney takes over as GM, signing a three-year contract.

Don Bologne sounds like a bad Godfather parody.

My interest in the Flames is already waning. It would be gone.
I'd frequent CP purely for the off topic drama and other sports forums.
And the occasional basking in Oiler losses.

Funny I haven't been to the CP off topic section for years.
I find it wrecks my view of people to see extreme views on other topics. Feel it's more straight forward to stay away.
