Eventually I think the three very long regular season sports are gonna have to find a way to enhance the value of the regular season. The fact the NHL is likely to expand to 84 games seems insane to me, but whatever. NBA has it worst though, especially since the play-in game was added. Even less incentive to care about the regular season when you can go 38-44 and still be in the playoffs.

I was a huge NBA fan in the late 90s and early 2000s, but it's been a distant 3rd behind NHL and NFL for me for a long time. Worst thing is load management. A 82 game season is one thing, but if you regularly sit star players on top of that, it really becomes a drag.
|
I feel the exact same and have watched for the exact same time also.
Load Management
Challenges on top of timeouts. I always felt there is way too many timeouts
The Fouls
The 3 pointers
The Play-in
There is horrible flow in the game right now which is sad considering how much good young talent there is in the game

Raptors 9-5 to start the season, have really been enjoying the games so far
Starting 5 looks solid. Bench is more reliable now with the growth of younger players like Shead, Dick, and Walter. Murray-Boyles looks like a really good pick, I think he could be similar to Barnes. Mamu looks like a great signing so far.

there's dysfunctional franchises in sports, and then there's this:
Quote:
As for the coaching change, that deserves its own special chapter in the story of New Orleans’ ongoing dysfunction. For starters, Green being dismissed so early — with rumors about his job security cropping up a week into the campaign — is a perfect case of the adage that if you fire a coach in the first half of the season, it means you should have done it over the summer.
Alas, the Pelicans couldn’t fire Green largely because the owner was besties with Green’s wife and wouldn’t allow it. Yes, really. Former GM David Griffin reportedly tried to pull the trigger twice last season and wasn’t allowed to.

I haven't paid attention at all to the Raptors yet this season.
They are 10-5? Wow, ok, guess I should start tuning in.

They're also 9-1 in their last 10.

Personally I think it's a matter of a weak East. Again they work as a team but they don't have that star to take them over the top. Scottie and Ingram are good 2/3 options, but it would be nice to have a star when the clock is ticking. I'm not sold on Quickly either.

The East is weak enough that they could probably win a playoff round or two.

It's 2025 NBA, the correct response is, to quote the great prophet Rocky Maivia, "It doesn't matter if they are the real deal or not!!!". Gotta get in the playoffs, thats important, but short of that it really doesn't matter. Gonna come down to who is shooting 3s the best. OKC might go 80-2 and it won't matter if they go cold from deep come playoff time.

I think they are the real deal.
They have a good starting 5, and with guys like Mamukeslashvili, Dick, Murray-Boyles, Shead, Walter, etc on the bench I feel like they have more depth on the bench than in the past too.

Ingram is the clutch bucket getter they've been looking to close out games

Raptors weren’t at their best tonight, but pulled off a last second win. They now host the quarterfinals of the nba cup.

Clippers cut Chris Paul. I haven't followed them, but has he been bad? I know he's a pain in the butt attitude wise.

I just looked at the stats. Ouch, time to retire. 2.9 points per game.

looks like Giannis wants out of Milwaukee. Interesting timing too, since players who signed contracts last offseason can be traded starting December 15.
