At 4:45PM on Wednesday August 1 2007, the Calgary Police
Service responded to the 900 block of 7 Avenue SW to reports
of a disturbance on the LRT Platform at that location.

I walked right past it about an hour after the fact. Police had tarps covering the bottom part of the train to conceal what was left.

Pretty scary (and disgusting, in more than one way) stuff. I'm glad I wasn't there when it happened.

Makes me feel really bad for the family. Any death is tragic. Any young death is even more so. A young death in such a graphic manner is unimaginable. Perhaps there is some solace in the notion that, despite the end result, the pain and suffering was probably minimal and mercifully brief. Still.....so glad for health and family.

I live right by there and could only assume that someone was killed. There were people trying to look under the part that police had blocked from view, that was pretty disturbing.

Would you classify this as a murder? Seems like the two females he was with pushed him into the c-train.

I work right on that corner in the Dominion Centre. This has happened before here, among numerous other attempted murders. It usually relates to drugs and gang activity, but I suppose the details of this death have yet to come out of the woodwork.

For any of you who know which corner this is, it's probably one of the most sketchiest to walk around during the day, and one of the most dangerous to be in at night on the west side of Calgary.

Probably manslaughter charges. I'm not sure if in Canada they are called manslaughter.

I have a question, why does it take the cops so long to investigate things like this. I mean take the photos and evidence, talk to witnesses - how does that take the x hours that this took.

Its unfortunate that there are so many brats in this world - condolences to his immediate family.

This happened at the station I use to go home, and I got there just past 5 and it was quite the scene. I had no idea what was going on. There was lots of police cars, a fire truck, ambulances, and people standing around. Their was definitely a weird feeling in the air. The train was about 2/3 at the platform, and the middle portion of the platform was taped off. The police were interviewing people and some were crying. I figured someone got hit by a train and most likely died. Everything pointed to that. Then later when I was walking into Kensington to catch a ride with someone to get home, people were talking and someone said they saw a covered off area and someone else said they could see someones pants. Sad to hear the person was only 17.

Being inconvenienced on my way home because someone was possibly murdered is something that I am fine with.

Because maybe it takes that long to collect the evidence. I would rather my Police force check everything, and make sure they have it right, rather than do a half a$$ed job.

If it is indeed a murder (the victim was purposefully pushed into the train), then I imagine all sorts of crimescene evidence needs to be collected and accounted for so that the person responsible can be prosecuted properly.
