That's hilarious. That means, because I don't run pure summers on the V8 Vantage, that I could drive highway 93 year-round on my ExtremeContact DWS06+ tires. Toothless law, indeed.

Yup. I keep saying it because don't assume that your fellow drivers are on actual winter tires.

You must love your family a lot more than I do. This will be our 30th Christmas here after moving from Winnipeg and we haven't once gone back for Christmas. Driving or flying.

Last few Christmases I went, Winnipeg's weather was on par with -- if not nicer than -- Calgary's.
But my folks are in their late 60s / early 70s and not exactly a shining example of good health:
- dad is T2D who smokes like a Tesla on fire
- mom is obese, also smokes, and has suddenly developed a rather stupid aversion to taking doctors and medicine seriously; I have some credulous idiot Trumpers in my extended family and she gives them too much credibility when they tell her things.
Time in this world is finite.

So I've taken a moment while driving with my new studded Hakka's in Cowtown lately, to drive with the windows down. Yep, they're noisy. Window up, and you can't even tell.
Before I swapped, I drove my Conti's hard on a dry corner, and then attempted similar on the Hakka's. Lol, the difference is quite significant. The good, is the car on its winters is still quite agile, comparatively to other vehicles.

Probably late for most of you, but I have a set of tires and rims available that don't fit my new car. Looking for a reasonable offer.

It's supposed to snow quite a bit tonight, probably a good time to put on the winters as I think Monday morning commute will be pretty bad

Well ,winter is here, and the roads are dressed in Flames colours. Gonna be a sea of red soon enough.

The trick is to force them to pullover in terror cleanly. The application of high beams and horns at the correct tempo, assisted by cautious but confident tailgating usually gets the job done.

My brand new Hakkapeliitta 5's chewed through this like it wasn't even there.
But the rest of the city is an absolute mess today so far, so be wary while driving.

This might as well apply to the entire driving populous who get amnesia five months out of the year, such that every snowfall is the first one they've ever driven in.

Wait, I'm only supposed to do that on snow days?

I was actually pretty impressed with the drivers overall today. only 3 complaints to speak of which is pretty good.
1 guy driving in the middle of 2 lanes for a little too long. seemed a bit lost.
An Ambulance getting off Deerfoot, some guy in the 2nd right lane cuts across 3 lanes of traffic to come to a dead stop in the left lane (while the ambulance that was behind him is moving into the right lane to exit), I almost got rear ended stopping behind him, if he had done nothing, or gotten over 1 lane, or continued moving slowly instead of coming to a dead stop, the road would have been a safer place.
1 guy tailgating me to the point that I was uncomfortable. Later proceeded to do a little bit of lane weaving (in an outback, so not exactly purpose built for all terrain)
But overall surprisingly I did not notice anyone driving 25K when the flow of traffic was moving at about 50k, which was nice to see.

This person in this very new Escalade was going 5 kph today in a 50 because his tires were spinning. Buy an escalade and can't afford winters, or don't drive in this.

I do quite enjoy driving in this weather when it's about 11pm at night and there are hardly any other cars on the road to mess it up for me. Fresh snow with winter tires is pretty fun to drive in.

I was too tired yesterday eve to put on my winters, was 20 feet below top top of the 6th Street NE hill before stopping. Had i hit the traction control off button halfway up, I might have made it.
Winter tires going on tonight.
