EP was never a top center. Far too soft and lacks leadership skills.
Demko always had injury issues. Once the hips go it's death for a butterfly goalie.
Boeser is a poor man's Kyle Connor...and even if he were at that level, it wouldn't be good enough.
The only one that panned out as an elite player is Hughes, and he's gonna be in New Jersey by the end of the year.
Basically, they bet on the wrong horses.
But, they also built a pretty crummy support roster behind those players. If your best forward after Petterson and Boeser is Connor Garland, you're gonna have a bad time (especially if the actual answer to that question is Sherwood).
They didn't have the best horses to build around other than Hughes, but they've also been mismanaged to hell.
shoot, even the Lindholm trade is a prime example of how they got nothing good in return for a big trade. Their management is terrible. No wonder Hughes wants out.
