I understand why they had to do the interviews, from a certain twisted point of view.
First Maloney did what was supposed to be a nothingburger intermission spot. He jammed his foot so far in his mouth he could taste his underpants. Then he thought he could fix it himself by doing a big two-part interview to explain himself thoroughly. And wound up putting about six more feet in his mouth, most of them belonging to other people in the organization.
I cannot imagine that anybody in that front office is happy with Maloney now. All he had to do was laugh at himself over the ‘rebiggle’ thing and let it slide.
