That highlights more where we are different. I’m not stressed at all about needing Kadri because of his position. Especially for a hypothetical line, where one linemate hasn’t been drafted and the other may not even play with him.
They really need to stay focused on the big picture.
I’m not stressed about it being Kadri in particular, but I do think skilled prospects need skilled veterans around. It’s a weakness I think SJ has. MacKinnon has Tanguay and Stasny, Crosby had Mario. If the Flames trade Kadri IMO they will need to sign short term vets, but not just any short term vets. Guys with real skill.
It does? seems like a lot of falling ass backwards into good players with a side of good geography
So you admit drafting at the top is at the very least a big part of what is required to build a Championship quality team, and that by the Flames taking the opposite stance, they’ve been dumb and wrong all along?

The geography thing is overblown.
Pittsburgh isn't good geography but with Crosby / Malkin they had no issue attracting players.
Chicago was a laughing stock for most of the 90s and early 00s, nobody wanted to play for Wirtz. But Kane and Toews come along and that all changes.
Los Angeles wasn't really a top market in the 00s but they get Doughty and Kopitar and it became an attractive destination again.
The Panthers were another team that were the laughing stock of the league for years, but they drafted Huberdeau, Barkov and Ekblad, shrewdly made moves which included moving Huberdeau for Tkachuk and become the most attractive destination in the NHL after 30 years of being a laughing stock.
Good geography does help, but having elite star players that guys think they can win with are what keeps and attracts players to your organization.

And are acting like it's a curse and the worse thing that could ever happen.
I'm not saying you need to be happy to be 32nd overall, but you can at least acknowledge that drafting 1st overall is a huge opportunity and benefit for any organization.

For the modern era, yes. As noted by their lack of top draft picks, and to this day open refusal of the approach.
Well trading almost all your good players for future picks and prospects and not bringing in any current day talent to replace those traded players would suggest that it is a soft refusal at best to that approach. For one to say they refuse that approach would be a complete denial of reality.
I'm quite a bit more concerned about Pierre LeBrun's, Darren Dreger's, and Frank Seravalli's statements about Murray Edwards than the Maloney interview.
And I don't think it's fair to judge Craig Conroy's selling trades in terms of timing, or whether they're made at all.

No one wants to rebuild.
They never said this wasn't a good opportunity. He did try to temper the expectations on McKenna some
Flames should probably just take the #### offers the Flames currently have that Elliotte referenced in the 2nd intermission just to keep a vocal portion of the fanbase happy.
Friedman: No good trade offers right now for the Flames. Doesn't know of any vets that are unhappy. Would be personally really surprised if Conroy wasn't extended. Doesn't understand why they had to do these interviews at this point in the season.
Pretty much what everyone already knew.
