I'm on team Stenberg, or more correctly, I would be extremely happy if the Flames got any of those 3 players.
PPG in the SHL for their respective draft year:
I. Stenberg: 0.95
D. Sedin: 0.84
P. Forsberg: 0.74

I saw the 6'0", too. Plus, he doesn't look 5'8" in that video.

I would add Belchek and Villeneuve in that category. I think both end ip being difference makers.

It’s not just that McKenna is scoring less, it’s how he’s getting his points that’s the major red flag. McKenna is currently relying on the power play for 60% of his offense. He has 16 points, but 9 of them are on the PP. He isn't driving plays he's just dishing out on the man advantage and looks like a perimeter player.
Adam Fantilli: 1.81 PPG
Jack Eichel: 1.78 PPG
Macklin Celebrini: 1.68 PPG
Gavin McKenna (Current):1.07 PPG.
McKenna looks more like James Hagens who went 7th 1.0 ppg in NCAA than a 1st overall.... but McKenna has even worse 5v5 underlying numbers. Meanwhile, you have Stenberg putting up historical numbers against actual men in the SHL. I think you have to take a long look at Stenberg. We cant afford to draft a Yakupov.

It would be a mistake to take McKenna at 1 for sure at this point in time.

I don't think it's fair to even conceivably compare McKenna to Yakpuov.
Yakupov was one of the least mature, most entitled, laziest players ever to go in the first round. McKenna doesn't even remotely have the same personality concerns. He would have to commit atrocities to not be taken first overall if the Flames are in the fortunate position of drafting #1 overall.
The Flames need all the loyalty they can get. McKenna and DuPont are both having disappointing years. But they're also supposedly Flames fans, which is pretty exciting.

It was more just picking a player at 1st overall that has elite junior numbers but doesn't put it all together at the next level. I wasn't really alluding to any other traits than that. I just think we really have to re evaluate him. There's still half a season of NCAA left but there is reason to question if he should be 1st overall at this point.

I can't help but question how good a player actually is when they're fully mature (6'4 and 220) and playing against kids.
0.7ppg D-1 is good, but not good enough to pass up on some of the other top ranked guys imo.

Just point watching but it seems like he has regressed. That's never good before draft year.

When you are a 6’4 220 pound dman who is dominating 20-24 year old kids you can probably come into the NHL and do the same thing.

There was someone who showed data saying that if McKenna's overall oiSH%/linemates weree converting their chances that he was setting up at an average rate, that his production would be like 1.5x-2x what it is right now.
I'd rather count on years of generational promise and production over a 15 game sample size in which he's playing against men for the first time ever and is still putting up decent-yet-disappointing production despite such bad shooting luck from him & his linemates so far.
