Nice trajectory for an NCAA freshman.

His trajectory so far is looking a heck of a lot like another kid we plucked out of the USHL in the middle of the draft almost 15 years ago...

I like this kid!

Might be the next "diamond in the rough" later pick ala Brodie, Gaudreau

I'll be happy if he can eat bread.

That's probably a realistic target. And would be fantastic.

Monsieur Sandman, what was your pre-draft scouting report on 'em?

Embarrassing to say, but I didn’t do a write-up on Wyttenbach, because I (and many others) saw him as a player who had no chance of ever making the NHL- due to size and skating, but largely due to lack of pace. I’m overjoyed to be wrong about this kid, but he has no business being this good, lol.

I'm guessing he has improved on these characteristics?

I am firmly in the trade anything with good value camp but feel it’s a bit of an over reaction that no trades have been made yet. It feels a bit like the people who yell “shoooot” when watching a power play. That being said, I do not trust the Flames track record and if they done score on the power play here I will be part of the riot.

By gum, that is exactly what it's like!

I remember fans doing that in the late 80s, when the team had the best power play in the league – approached 30% at one point. What, the best PP in the league doesn't know to shoot the puck? They need coaching from people in the stands?

Any player worth having on a power play knows you have to pick your spots and not just hammer the puck from anywhere and lose possession. Any GM worth having on a team knows you have to pick your spots for a trade and not just unload players for the sake of getting rid of them.

I would say his skating still needs work, but boy- he sure doesn’t look like he has any trouble handling the pace against men in the NCAA.

Source: https://quchronicle.com/91621/featur...-of-the-month/

Quinnipiac men’s ice hockey’s freshman forward Ethan Wyttenbach has been named ECAC’s Rookie of the Month, along with the Hockey Commissioners’ Association’s Rookie of the Month....

The Hockey Commissioners Association's (HCA) National Rookie of the Month award is recognized as the top monthly award for rookie players across all of NCAA Division I college ice hockey. It is considered the national rookie award for the sport.

Deserving of another bump after NCAA hockey rookie of month award and another multi-point performance tonite.

Fun to go back through the CP post draft reaction. So interesting how some scouts had him very high in draft. With others labelling him as too small.

Source: https://gobobcats.com/sports/mens-ic...ttenbach/14889
Team home page now has him listed as: Height: 5-11 Weight: 185

That should be the most up to date source. Not so small...

Trait of Wyttenbach's that I love: he seems to always be in position to make something happen offensively. Just finds quiet spots in defensive coverage and then does smart things with the puck. I need to see more of him, though.

The numbers are impressive but he definitely doesn’t wow you like Gaudreau did, actually, he reminds me of Huberdeau.

Really? I've seen some pretty wow like highlights. Not watching the games admittedly.
