Unfortunate twist, Honzek had himself a nice season underway. Will be good to see him when he's back next season!

I remember when that was the knock against Backlund. Early in his career he had injury after injury. Then it just stopped happening.
Sometimes these things are just luck.

That is really unfortunate.
Starting to track like Valimaki - every time he gains some momentum, he gets derailed again with another injury.
Significant injuries in 3 consecutive developmental years is very difficult to overcome

I think that Murray Edwards ordered the surgery to prevent Honzo from being back in the lineup and making the Flames better, so that he could prove they're rebuilding.
Poor bugger...feel bad for both Backs and Honzek....crappy situation.

Hopefully they will rebuild him better than he was. Better, stronger, faster.
Seriously, this kid has the worst luck. Just when he was just looking comfortable in the NHL and competing hard every shift. He stopped looking timid (which I thought was the one trait that might have stopped him from becoming an NHL'er), and I would say really started to add value to the team.
Hope he fully recovers quickly, and is able to train hard again this next off-season, and comes back stronger than ever. Just terrible luck. That hit with Backlund looked painful!

Just a guess, but 6 months rehab could be shoulder. You want that to be 100% upon return, so frequently has a long recovery time.
