Even funnier that they lost in 3 on 3 OT, which is usually their bread and butter.

Oh, but you see, every other team in the league is going to lose all their games in hand… even though that's mathematically impossible. So they really are close!

GOAT!

Do we want the Oilers to win the Cup? No!
Do we want the Oilers to make the playoffs? Yes, and swept in the first round... or no, and just miss by a couple points.
Do we want the Oilers losing all their games and winning the lottery or drafting in the top 5 or even top 10? No we absolutely do not.
Come on guys. It's funny as hell when they lose, but it won't be funny when they draft McKenna or (if they're smart - which they aren't) Verhoeff.

They can finish 20th, miss the playoffs and not have a pick altogether. That's what I'm rooting for.

And sell off what little futures they have in the process!

I prefer the grease not make the playoffs.
Anything can happen in the playoffs. Players can panic and turn a sure 3 0 series lead in to a 2-1 with a bad move in the last minute. Teams can go on a fluke run.
We are very fortunate that the oilers motley crew of pricks, alleged criminals, and jerks, didn't get their disgusting hands on such a beautiful trophy. To say nothing of their savage fans who behave like thunderdome background extras, getting in fights in the stands, throwing crap on the ice, and exposing themselves in front of children. These are morally bankrupt people cheering on an organization that couldn't even define the word morality.
No thanks. I hope they finish 1 point out and get a bad pick,

Correct. The chances they win the lottery out of just missing the POs is so remote. And IIRC if that happens they don't even get a pick.

Currently 25th in PTS% with 18 games left in 2025 where they are currently only favored in 3 of them (vs.Buffalo, vs.Detroit, vs.Calgary).
If they won every game where they had a 45% chance of winning or greater they would go only 9-9 in that stretch.

The Oilers could win the draft lottery and still be no good.
No player can fix their stinky franchise.

Well to be fair, a lottery ball is the only reason they aren't about to hit 20 years with no playoffs.

The Oilers are currently averaging 2.91 GF/60 which puts them 19th in the league. If you look at GF/60 at 5 on 5, they drop to 25th with 2.1 GF/60. A lot of talk about the goaltending and defense, but they're an average at best offensive team.
To put in in perspective, the Flames score at a 2.21 GF/60 rate at 5 on 5. The 2025 Calgary Flames score more goals at 5 on 5 than the 2025 Edmonton Oilers.

This is the time of year they are usually preoccupied calling for the heads of the goaltenders and head coach.
