lol the chances curves has a friend in cabinet, let alone more than one friend in a cabinet of <30 people is obviously zero and made up. If you believed curves knows everyone he says he knows he’d be one of the most high profile Albertans in the province, not sitting at home drinking chalet sauce.
I was wondering what they would go after next. Of course it's abortion.
Lost in how insane the idea is, is how insane that speech was.
Quoted it here and NSFW cause it's a bit long.

Quote:
Mr. Speaker, Canada is one of the best nations in the world for getting abortions, yet Canada is founded on Judeo Christian principles. Our Constitution: “Canada is founded upon principles that recognize the supremacy of God.” Judeo-Christian principles recognize that men and women are children of God, each having a divine nature and destiny. They affirm the family as ordained of God and that children are a blessing. This is the opposite of Canada’s failure to do nothing about abortion, in particular late-term abortions. Many Albertans do not want a society that is best at late-term abortions, and many of these Albertans feel that they are ignored on this matter sacred to them. But Alberta has a Citizen Initiative Act, and most Albertans, regardless of faith or background, agree that it is reasonable to have some limits on late-term abortions. That is the case in most democratic jurisdictions.
The threshold to have a referendum about late-term abortion is about 178,000 Albertans. What is the best antidote to abortion? More truth, Mr. Speaker. Referendums provide opportunities for more truth, to share facts in the public square, allowing Albertans to judge for themselves. Seeing things as they really are will result in less abortion not by force of law but by the exercise of moral agency informed by truth. It will be good for Albertans to have a referendum with honest conversations on late-term abortion, speaking the truth in love as each best understands it, with respect to all.
I've heard Sex Ed is helpful too, hopefully the UCP is consistent in giving all members of society "Truth". Wait..

So every week, I send an email to my MLA with the subject "This Week in Alberta and UCP" .
I detail, just like you did, all the ####ty things they do every week. I try and keep it serious and direct, but sometimes, I can't help but make it drip with sarcasm and congratulate them for say bringing measles back.
The crazy thing is, each week tops the previous for incompetency and ethics l.
I strongly recommend it. It does offer a bit of comfort knowing that I am doing a small part.

Would you be willing to bcc it to people it they gave you their email so we can send it to our own worthless piece of ####?

If people don't actually do something this government is not going to stop. All of this is being crammed through ahead of the UCP AGM at warp speed, but make no mistake it's going to get worse and worse until they hit the tipping point.
It's a black enough day when you're using the NWC to crush worker rights, human rights, sexual rights etc. but when they go down this road as well (you can bet your bottom dollar they'll force it through) it's pretty clear anyone on the fence about recall petitions, protesting and pushing back better start doing so now.
I also don't need any elected representatives harkening back religion or religious motivations in the legislature - full stop. This is so past embarrassing, awful and sad now. We have fully entered the we are in big trouble phase.

No physician in Canada can terminate a pregnancy over 24 weeks without serious indications that the life of the mother is at risk or that the fetus has very serious malformations. I have sat with these women as they received the terrible news and sat with them throughout the terrible long, tear-drenched process. The assertion that late-term abortions can be performed “for any reason, or no reason at all” is just not true.
I challenge Mr. Kay to find one late-term abortion performed in Canada to a healthy mother with a healthy fetus. I am one of many politicians “willing to tackle” this subject. He needs to be one of many journalists who are prepared to admit when their fine prose may have misled Canadians … in this case that late-trimester abortions are not happening in Canada without “reason.”
The UCP, always working to solve problems that don't exist, when they aren't busy creating new ones like lab debacles, tylenot, coal settlements, ivermectin parties...

Jonathan Kay doesn’t even know he’s using dog shampoo when the bottle has a dog on it and it says “for Pets.” Challenging him to find evidence of virtually literally anything is a monumental ask.
Canada needs to remove that supremacy of god line from the Charter
I think it's quite telling that he assumed the "God" in the preamble referred to Judeo Christian principles when section 2 explicitly states we have Freedom of Religion - which is completely against Judeo Christian principles, ie the 10 commandments.
