It feels a bit unfair to compare different lanes of media and ascribe motivations/intent because everyone's role is quite different in the grand scheme of things.
You know what is interesting. I am listening to Barnburner and FlamesTalk more and chatting on CP more with the team in the disarray like they are now vs last years chase for the playoffs.
A lot of it is their actual opinions, which many Flames fans share their view points. I'll be honest, I agree with almost everything in his rant. This isn't some crazy view point, a lot of fans share the same views.
Just because some fans don't agree, doesn't mean a large portion of the fan base isn't fed up with our ownership and the direction.
It's often based on mild opinion, ramped up to 11.
a. "I want them to rebuild". [actual opinion]
b. "Flames management has said they like certain multi year contract players and don't like to trade them" [note they never said they wouldn't trade them and that these are throwaway hearsay lines anyway]
c. "This is an outrage - the management has called a halt to the rebuild". [never mind all the stuff they've done, and the stuff they have not done, like sign UFAs or trade for veteran help while dive bombing into last place.]
The one part that I think is legitimate from Boomer's whole rant for sure was the mindset of "who are you trying to trick"
So let's assume that as some are saying behind the scenes the Flames are okay with a rebuild, and are okay with moving the veterans then what is the benefit of going on TV and saying this.
Do you think fans are stupid and you're trying to convince them to keep believing in this team?
Do you think you're going to be able to trick other GMs into better offers by pretending like you're not a seller?
Like they said on the radio I don't think they did their PR team any favours with that interview, I don't think anybody came out of that interview looking at the Flames in a better light.
And it's where Boomer went in terms of saying can we be 100% sure this isn't what they actually believe within the organization when there isn't really any benefit to coming out and saying this, and then going and doing it anyways .

"They're where they are because of how they've maintainded a roster in the mucky middle for so long without... it's like... ####, it's like we say "rebuilding" like it's a bad thing... again, billionaires, these guys know what they're doing... if you lived in a house and the ####ing shingles are flying off the roof... repairing the roof does not mean it's a failure, it just means it's time to fix the ####ing roof."

We need some of that Feaster "intellectual honesty"
Quote:
“It’s something that we monitor all the time,” said Feaster. “Intellectual honesty is important. We can’t fool ourselves. The one thing we have to be is realistic about where we are. And if we’re not going to be a team that’s going to make the playoffs, then we have some tough decisions to make.”
Which brings up the cut-off point. If the Flames are south of, say, 10th place by Valentine’s Day, does dismantling begin in earnest?
“I don’t want to put a drop-dead date on it,” said Feaster. “But I can tell you this — there is clearly urgency on all of our parts. The coaching staff feels urgency, I feel urgency, the guys feel the urgency. This isn’t one of those (situations) where you sit and say, ‘Well, we’ll just wait until January-something … and make our decisions.’ We need to get back in this thing now.”
The worst thing about the above quote, is that this was in 2011. Since then, the Flames have made the playoffs 5 times, and only as far as the 2nd round.

And after he said that he did nothing
Judge on actions not words

So many good points in that video. "Oh well we don't want to start selling guys off and start losing games and missing the playoffs because then people won't buy tickets... news flash, you're not in the playoffs and you haven't been in the playoffs for a long ####ing time!"
