And yeah, I noticed that too about Origin when BB started promoting that nonalcoholic beer. The nosey b in my always wonders what the conversation looks like when you're ending or not renewing a sponsorship. Especially when it's seemingly been a bit part of the show and they're talked about a lot. Kind of like when the other car dealership they partnered with at launch wasn't there anymore.


EDIT: I know it's largely because of the season the flames are having, but I also wonder if BB needs to be daily and not like twice or thrice a week.

It’s every week day. 10ish in the AM. For at least the last few month since I started watching it.

To me it’s just like their radio show, but more F bombs.

I imagine their audio only, podcast numbers are significantly higher than the live YouTube viewings. Especially the shorter podcast clips they post, or interview only clips.

I've never watched on YouTube, but listen to the podcast almost daily, or atleast one of the shorter clips daily.

Yeah the YouTube numbers don't tell the full story. I listen to them through Apple Podcasts everyday as I'm living in Europe and can't catch the live show on Youtube. Then you've got to consider there's amazon, spotify, etc. etc.

Also, since these guys aren't the official rights holders of the Calgary Flames they're more raw (obviously) with their takes then Steinberg and co. and can colour outside the lines alot more, which you would think would draw a larger audience with how bad the team is this year. I'm curious if this bad start is giving them more or less views honestly. Probably less across the board for everyone tbf.

But hardcore fans (many are here on CP) is an outlier in fandom. Being more raw and outside the teams grasp like most of the local media seems like it would be a recipe for an uptick in followers when things are bad. But the reality is the vast majority of fans just check out during a teams bad years.

Edit: I do get what Barnburner is trying to do. They are unrestrained by the fact they are not the broadrcast partner of the Flames. They can be more critical, which is a good counter balance to have in the market. But I also think they are playing into that part of the fan base that is already more negative and riled up. Last night's comments from Maloney is red meat for that part of the fan base, and BB is smart to play into that.
