They also don't pay their goalies anything, that is part of managing the cap. Cheap out on goalies, what do you expect?

Not true! The goalies get the resale value of all jerseys thrown on the ice. If they can't live on that, screw 'em.

Calgary and Montreal lead with 5 of the 3on3 scrimmage wins.
I would say that is a large amount of teams.

I missed all 5 of those.

I've considered writing the definitive book on Hatricks. McDavids is a 1PPG,1PPA,-1
There's some fun ones, Brandon Shanahan is a Gordie How in the playoffs.
Kippers is 65 minutes, a shutout, and a Loss.
I have about 35 of them written down.

Skinner is not a great goalie, he's slower then average crossing the crease, seems to have trouble looking through screens and his glove hand is atrocious. However he has shown that while he's not great, he's capable of going on heaters at times.
But goaltending is not a problem. The toughest thing to do in your own zone is defend the slot, you have to be aware of it. The Oilers don't defend the slot, they're soft in front of the net, they really don't do great along the boards in breaking up a cycle, their forwards play like they don't care about what's happening in their own end especially the glitter twins who play like they think playing defense is below them.
You can replace the coaches, it isn't going to change. You can revive Terry Sawchuk, the greatest damn goalie to ever play the game and he couldn't save this team.
Now they're old, as a team they're slow, they are playing right now like they just don't care and that's a leadership thing.
I expect that the bottom 6 isn't productive because they sit on the bench for the last few years and watch the glitter twins take all the premium ice time, and they're captain gives everyone the glare of death, while exemplifiying the old saying, Do what I tell you and not what I do.
This is a team in big trouble. We can talk about them going on a 20 game winning streak, but that's tougher with an old and slower lineup.

One of the biggest things for me is Ekholm is now 35 and coming off a major injury. He was the heart and soul of that defence and he's not the same.
Nurse isn't physical anymore and Bouchard is a tire fire in his own zone.
Combine all that with horrible goaltending it doesn't matter if you have McDrai. You won't be able to outscore your problems.

That team is an absolute mess. And it’s awesome

Oilers fans are delusional about trade possibilities. They don’t have many assets anyone wants.

Are they ever. The one I heard when I was recently in Edmonton is they are in on Saros. My reply was for what? They have no draft picks and their chips consist of Savoie and Howard, and we know we know how that is going for them.

Saros also makes $7.74M. No way can they make that work.

Said before but Nashville chose Saros over Askarov. They aren't trading him.

Skinner's save percentage has dropped each of the 4 years he's been the Oilers starter. Frederic has 1 goal in 22 games. Savoie and Howard are not panning out to be the superstar rookies that Oilers fan though they'd be. They don't have their 2026 1st round pick. McDavid and Draisaitl are still world class players, but they are past their peak.
They've had slow starts before in the McDavid-Draisaitl era (and overcome them), but this feels different.

That's looking like quite the mistake. We don't have to worry with Wolf for a while but I wonder about undersized goaltenders in their 30's.
