The problem is that voters will vote on single issues and ignore all the other problematic issues with the party.
This happened last election. NDP decided to say they were going to raise corporate taxes and I personally know a handful of people who had their mind made up from that one single issue.
Now, I’m smart enough to know that a percentage of people in that handful were probably voting UCP anyways, despite what they told me. However, I’m willing to bet that WAS legitimately a deciding factor for some who wound up voting UCP.
Taxes are such a bogeyman in this province. I hope Nenshi is smart enough to keep dead silent on any contentious taxation changes and simply puts the changes in place if they are elected. Yeah, they’ll get absolutely dragged for it, but I fully support them doing that without campaigning on it. I firmly believe that once a PST is in place, it’s in for good. Even if PCs get in next election, I think they’re smart enough to know it needs to stay.

Total own goal by the NDP that likely cost them the election based on the number of close seats. Even hiking back to the previous 10% might have flown.

Just because people vote for parties doesn't mean that the voters are responsible through and through. The shoe goes on the other foot. I know this is a provincial politics thread, but was EVERYONE who voted for Gondek responsible for law, order, crime, inflation, Covid policies, water main breaks and more? Was she? Federal Liberals under Trudeau voted for strict environmental policies, Carney seems to be backing away from that in a massive way. Is it safe to say that Liberal voters in Canada are responsible for environmental destruction? Are Liberal voters fully responsible for the waste, theft, fraud and corruption? Should we be holding YOU responsible if you voted Liberal?
I am saying this as someone who DID NOT vote UCP

The rest of this is too idiotic to warrant a response, but the bolded is absolutely false. Despicable UCP voters do have an opportunity for redemption: they could champion the recall movements themselves, or at the very least they sure as #### better sign it. Calgary Bow should have 25000 signatures by now. But they don't.
You should be beyond embarassed for defending the trashy people who delivered us this nightmare.

⚠️ BREAKING: Corb Lund Applies to Elections Alberta for a Citizen's Initiative Petition to Prohibit Coal Mining in the #Eastern Slopes ⚠️
This afternoon, country music artist Corb Lundd headed to #Edmonton to submit his application to Elections Alberta for a petition to prohibit coal mining in the #EasternSlopes of the Rocky Mountains.
“Coal mining threatens the very foundation of Alberta’s agriculture, ranching, and clean water... coal is an urgent question for Albertans, and the answer will impact us all for generations to come,” Lund said
The application still needs to be approved by Elections Alberta but, provided it is, Lund's petition will give Albertans the opportunity to put the question of #CoalMining in our headwaters to a vote.

I love this guy, even though he’s an Oiler fan.

I've kinda stayed away from anything news related the past two days because thinking about the use of the notwithstanding clause to target a specific group of people made me ill.
The blood of every queer kid who commits suicide after this will be on their hands, and on the hands of every ghoul who supports them, including every soulless coward who voted them in.
On the site here, I see the posts you report when someone calls you out for your regressive views, so maybe I shouldn't be a moderator on here any more, but I will say, may god have mercy on you, because the way y'all support treating the "least of these" is simply abhorrent.

Same as with ADAP and funding cuts to the disabled, the UCP is literally killing people. That very factual reality is why I started calling UCP supporters scum months ago.

It's the same as MAGA. They want these people gone. Immigrants, LGBTQ, Disabled, Poor, Sick, anyone they consider "less than".
UCP supporters are scum. Can anyone name any policies they've enacted that have actually had a positive effect on their life? There isn't any because they govern by negatively affecting the people they don't like, instead of worrying about positively affecting, well, anyone.

As long as the UCP is in power, we'll always have a need for a Transgender Day of Remembrance. Because they keep making more victims.
The ####ing gal of these people. Unreal.

One has to wonder if their less affluent supporters realize who they would go after next if hypothetically they were ever successful in getting rid of those folks.

Most won't, reason being is that most of these people think they are the exception to any negative consequences. They think they are part of the correct hierarchy and that it will never change so they are protected.

A#court hearing is underway in Edmonton on the constitutionality of a proposed referendum on Alberta separating from Canada.
Arguments began Wednesday from lawyers representing the head of a pro-Alberta sovereignty group, the province’s chief electoral officer and five First Nations groups who have been granted intervenor status.

Danielle Smith dared Eastern Slopes coal mine opponents to start a citizen initiative petition – so Corb Lund did
The iconic country music performer showed up in Edmonton yesterday with paperwork for a referendum petition to halt coal mining in the Rockies

This is the problem I have with you and other people's theories that voters have serious responsibility over decisions. Let's use Calgary Bow as an example, a riding that is effectively a toss up next election based on last results. Elections AB lists Calgary Bow as having 40 000 elector counts but I don't know if that is total adult Canadian's who are eligible to vote or not. How many non UCP voters (including me) are to blame for the recall campaign perhaps not going as strong as maybe it should? I don't know but they do shoulder blame if they aren't involved I take it? What would you say to a non UCP voting adult who hasn't taken up the petition to send a message?
I would personally like to know what policy, decision, scandal or anything else politically related in local and federal elections you personally are responsible for during your electoral life? It's naive to think that you can vote for parties, people and that their decisions have lead to certain outcomes and you aren't responsible for anything? All the bone headed decisions made over years of politics and your escaping responsibility? Everybody else has blood on their hands and in their soul but your clean?
