So call it whatever you want, but people reacting strongly (hope that word is ok) to click bait material to complain about the direction of a hockey team, while ignoring moves already made gets tiresome.
I'll be with you guys if Andersson is extended 8 years.
I'll be with you if Conroy comes out and says they aren't trading Coleman or Kadri because they think they'll be a huge part of this in 3 years.
But he's not.
And despite what people in Toronto are saying I doubt very much he will.
Are Steinberg and Francis coming from Toronto and not locally connected to the team? Both are local and very connected to the team and have historically been fed info by the Flames to spread through the media. I won't use the term "mouthpieces" but you know, you're told what to tell the hockey world and you say that thing...

Calgary gets a lot of calls, but few they’d consider serious (reminder: all it takes is one legitimate conversation to change everything). They can be patient, they have players people want. Nashville is starting to get calls and will have decisions to make.
Quote:
The NHL and NHLPA agreed in the new CBA to allow one 19-year-old per organization to play in the AHL, beginning in 2026-27. However, that’s more of a guideline than a negotiated rule and teams are pushing for more flexibility.
The Flames are used as an example, with another executive saying, “If Calgary wants to put Matvei Gridin and Zayne Parekh in the AHL, why shouldn’t a team be able to do what’s best for their development? These are million-dollar investments.”

For real though.. John Bean (prior) and Maloney are not the type of personalities you want in front of the camera for the first state-of-the-union style interview of the season.
Just a nothing-burger of an interview. And yes, before I get jumped by the same old crowd saying "what were you expecting him to say? That they're selling everyone? Never gonna happen!" yes I understand that.
But still there was nothing in that interview to inspire confidence in what the Flames are doing and the direction we're heading. It's not a secret we're heading for a low finish, you're allowed to say that they're at least "considering all options". Anyway, it's not like it's the end of the world, but IMO it's just a lost opportunity to speak to the fans and buy themselves some time and grace before trades are made, etc.
I would really prefer to hear from Conroy in these situations personally.

That Maloney clip wasn't bad. He comes across as disappointed and surprised the team is bad, but he used rebuild, so that isn't bad. He's also very fluent. I don't mind it at all. He's genuine.
Well then, that was a good time for the Flames to put up 6 goals and not soil themselves in the third period.
Montreal/Detroit/Dallas/Utah/SJ are probably the ones I'm most excited about considering their assets, come on MTL make us an offer we can't refuse for Kadri.

Washington has a number of tantalizing prospects, including RW Terik Parascak, LW Lynden Lakovic, D Cole Hutson, C Milton Gastrin, LW Ilya Protas, LW Andrew Cristall, D Leon Muggli, LW Ivan Miroshnichenko, and D Cam Allen. As much as we would love them to part with Ryan Leonard, it’s not going to happen.

Him and Zayne are friends - they played together in Saginaw in 2022/2023. Seems like it would be a good fit.
He was the 10th pick in 2022 and in the 32 thoughts column
“After back-to-back healthy scratches, word filtered that Ducks defenceman Pavel Mintyukov would like to be moved if he’s not going to play. He has fallen behind Jackson LaCombe and Olen Zellweger on the left side of Anaheim’s defence. Ian Moore, who had a strong camp, was elevated in Mintyukov’s place. This is the 10th overall pick in the 2022 draft, so Ducks GM Pat Verbeek will not be rushed into anything. Something to keep an eye on. ”

Caps could be a sneaky team for Kadri
