The Flames should hire the first AI GM. It won't sleep and makes hundreds calls to other teams and make decisions based on online fan opinions.

I wouldn't be concerned about it. He is just trying to placate the average fan. Remember, they still have to sell tickets.

Just listened to the Maloney interview and didn’t see the goal against.
They really are not allowed to say rebuild. That’s more pathetic than anything really.
Maloney not a great speaker, no idea if he is good at his job or not. Kind of wish we had a real strong personality in that role though.

Conroy will get a contract. Almost every Flames fan wants him to be GM.
Do you really think the are going to risk alienating a large portion of the fan base right before the new arena? A Conroy contract has to be basically a lock right now.

For me, the most concerning part was that Maloney was the one to do that interview.

He made 40$million in his playing career . If he doesn’t have autonomy or his life is a pain he doesn’t need the job

Conroy already made his money playing and he was willing to start out in management in more junior roles and learn the ropes. Doesn’t sound like the kind of guy to go on a power trip.
And I wouldn’t discount the money he makes as GM either.

I see it the opposite way - send Maloney out to do the pony work. Now, if they sent Conroy out for that I would be concerned
