Kuznetsov with 18+ minutes. The guy is becoming the best story of the season for me, didn’t really see that coming this soon.
The worst team in the league has their young, smallish goaltender on pace for 71 starts. That makes little sense to me. The backup meanwhile has looked great in every chance he has been given.

Wolf was better in the 1st meeting, this was a poor effort by him. On the other hand, your forwards had some grit and played better in this one, but, still didn't generate enough chances. Your D lost the weak side guy to give up too many chances. Also, your guys guy pinned in their own zone for some extended shifts.
On the whole, this was a better game than the first meeting.
We meet next on 1/15 at the UC.

Calgary is clearly playing better, but aren't getting many breaks.
Chicago goaltending has been the best in the league, and Calgary doesn't win many when Wolf isn't the better goaltender on the night.
Calgary needs its own Bedard, maybe this is the year.

Wolf had three pretty unfortunate bounces last night.
Not sure I'd hang that one on him.
But yeah Kuznetsov and perhaps Honzek are the plus stories of the season so far. Maybe an honorable mention to Gridin. Didn't stick but he's been elevated as a prospect for sure.

Along with Kuznetsov and Honzek, I could see Morton securing himself a spot on the roster. We’ll see when Beecher gets into the lineup though.

Boy oh boy, what are they going to do with Sharangovich? I wasn't able to watch the game, but statistically (counting and fancy) he was terrible. And, it looked like he sucked the life out of Kadri and Farabee. 5 years (including this one) at $5.75MM seems really really ugly right now.

Kuznetsov and Klapka have been excellent surprises.

I would like to see Honzek back in the AHL to get himself going again and then called up. He played good with Backs and Coleman. I just want him to get some offensive confidence again.

I wouldn't take Honzek's job away with a fluke injury. He played too well to go back down unless he struggles when he comes off the IR.

Well we are the Flames, gotta have at least three bad contracts going perpetually. Probably most teams are the same. Should take Brouwer out of retirement.

Based off yesterdays standings, there are 3 (technically 1 if you round down) teams playing at a 117 point pace.
Playoffs are a non-factor. The front office needs to focus on reality and start building for next year.

Definitely not hanging anything on Wolf but he is playing too much.
I'd add Klapka to the positive surprises too. But Kuznetsov suddenly playing top 4 minutes is pretty cool and the biggest surprise for me.
