It will be interesting to see how the Flames respond after losing 4-0 to the Hawks in Calgary. The Flames are slowly playing better as of late and simply let Bedard beat them last game.

I expect Calgary to come out strong to start. Or at least they should.

Yes, whether or not we see a big pushback will tell us a lot about this year's team.

On another note, however, Chicago has had our number recently, and the Flames have played some pretty terrible games in that building recently.

Seriously? Not even close, IMO. I originally thought Abbott was fine, and would grow into the job. But after a couple years, I have to say, I find him slow, monotoned, and often behind the play, or completely missing some plays. And he is prone to cliches.

Fans have been complaining about boring hockey, which is definitely true, but I think at least part of the problem is a pretty boring delivery of the games. As someone who watches many other games, the Flames broadcast is listless by comparison.

Do we want monster truck? God no. But there is a LOT of room in between for a little more excitement.

Everybody has their preferences. I actually felt the way about Ball you feel about Abbott. Especially Ball saying "one more time" every time the Flames made a pass in the offensive zone. He would also get off track too often with Hrudey going on about things that didn't have anything to do with calling the game. To each their own though.

Should be able to get the Ball broadcast on ESPN+, maybe I'll give it a try tonight.. See if he rips the flames being bottom of the barrel

Definitely. And now the same thing happens with Abbot, so maybe that issue is on Hrudy (though I thought it happened a lot with Garrett the other night too)

I am going to switch periods between the two, as a bit of a study in styles

Sorry, going to make it worse.....listen to how many times the puck "knuckles"

He's not bad, better than I originally thought, but he's not Rick Ball, not many are.

Ummm, Garrett is currently deceased. Jason York maybe?

I think the banter is on purpose, trying to make the broadcast less rigid and stuffy.

He has a few cliches and words that bug me. But now I won't here anything but 'knuckles', thank you very much!

Oops. I thought it was Garrett talking about Pi - was that York?

Also, thanked for 'currently' deceased!

Thank you - was starting to think dementia was setting in because I can remember Garrett and his white mustache sitting there.
