At the risk of posting a two hour video that few people will watch, this is a fascinating if uncomfortable listen. It's a self-avowed Christian Nationalist of the exact type that is intertwined with Project 2025 who are now directly influencing policy at the federal level - i.e. a guy high up in the same "sect", for lack of a better word, as Pete Hegseth - explaining his world view with very little filter. Specifically, this guy:
I'm sure some of what he says is blunted for the audience but not a lot, and Harris lets out a lot of slack in the rope - he spends about an hour establishing parameters and just getting the guy to talk about what he believes before he starts to narrow in on the key points like "are you okay with executing homosexuals".
You can also very easily see how someone already indoctrinated in many of these beliefs would find Wilson's approach eminently reasonable and even moderate compared to some shouty fringe-types. And yet at its core, his world view is utterly insane. This is also good ammunition for engaging in dialogue even with fellow Canadians who think there should be some role for Christianity or Bible-backed ethics to play in government, just to figure out where on the broad spectrum of crazy those people actually sit - if you're interested in having those dialogues at all, or if you can't avoid them for family reasons, etc.
It's very useful to understand what the real viewpoint is here because it's far too easy to just sort of generalize Project 2025 as vaguely interested in a theocratic state without being clear about what exactly these people are after, and on what timelines.

If Trump isn’t concerned the Epstein files, he could release them right now. He doesn’t go through congress anyway.
But: Back in the summer he demanded Bondi not release the files and to bury them. He’s spent the last several weeks attacking and threatening republicans who signed onto the release petition. And he’s been calling the files a hoax. He’s all over the unhinged map.
Not sure, these experts have not dealt with actual rats all that much
I saw this guy's interview a few weeks ago and I found it very interesting. Having watched old people go through dementia, when he said things don't get better and this is the best condition that Trump will ever be in, it really hit home for me. It happens so fast, and there is really no prevention. That might come across as if I'm lamenting this situation for Trump, and that couldn't be further from the truth. I don't know how to convey the glee and pure schadenfreude of the situation, though!

I watched this video when it came out and I think he has good points but I still don't fully trust a diagnosis done without a thorough examination. Trump's age has definitely diminished his cognitive ability but the guy has cockroachian survival skills and we could be stuck with him for many years.

How loyal do you think the current sycophants and hangers-on will be when the effects of dementia are more pronounced? To me, that's where we see the wheels fall off this administration, because he'll be in no position to defend himself, and there won't be a fear that he could crater your re-election hopes.

They defend his criminal activities as fake and lawfare, they defend his unconstitutional actions as his right as President, they've gone to extreme lengths to stop the Epstein files showing him as a pedophile. Some light dementia will be of absolutely no concern to them.

GOP rolled out Reagan's Alzheimer's infested corpse the last few years of his run, they will do it for a drooling, ####ting his pants (even worse than now) Trump.

If he tells the house to vote to release them and then the Senate doesn't pass it he can say he wanted them released and that proves he has nothing to hide. He is just trying to play his stupid fan base like a fiddle and they will accept it because they are so stupid.
This is absolutely bizarre, and yet completely on point for the quality of lawyers that Trump hires.
Quote:
He noted that during her grand jury presentation she appears to have misrepresented a basic tenet of the law by suggesting that Mr. Comey did not have the right, under the Fifth Amendment, to avoid testifying at his own trial.
She also appears to have made another astonishing error, Judge Fitzpatrick said. In his ruling, he pointed out that she told grand jurors that they did not have to rely solely “on the record before them” to return an indictment against Mr. Comey, but instead “could be assured the government had more evidence — perhaps better evidence — that would be presented at trial.”
The judge also said that Ms. Halligan appears to have botched her efforts to pare down the three-count indictment she had initially sought against Mr. Comey after grand jurors rejected one of the charges. Moreover, he noted that the grand jury transcripts he later received from her did not appear to contain her presentation of the second, two-charge indictment to the grand jury, leaving the record incomplete.
If, however, a second presentation was never made, then the court “is in uncharted legal territory,” he went on.
That would suggest, he wrote, “that the indictment returned in open court was not the same charging document presented to and deliberated upon by the grand jury.”

This is such a great video of Jon Stewart calling out the absolutely feckless Democrats in government around the whole shutdown situation and giving it all up for nothing.
Jeffrey Epstein reportedly called Donald Trump "dangerous" and described him as having "not one decent cell in his body" in an email sent in 2017.
That may or may not be true, I'm not really about to take character notes from a child rapist. Those words came after Trump had kicked him from Mar-a-Lago for stealing girls from him. So ya, "I hate Trump because he kicked me out of his club because I was taking his young masseuses for my sex island" isn't really a neutral character reference.
