I don’t get too invested in the shootout, but wouldn’t hurt Huska to give zary a chance in hopes of getting going just a little bit.

Harvey the Hound would have delivered a better shootout effort than Andersson.
Get Cooley in there! Give him a player's stick and see what happens!

Breakaways are fun.
Penalty shots and shootouts have turned into trick shot competitions. Hockey is a game meant to be played with speed.

Great overall game by the Flames - effort and execution. Say what you will about the Flames losing, but they have been playing very well now for the last 10 or so. The only thing lifeless about this team is perhaps the skill-level overall.
I think the Flames could have won this game. Glad that they are playing well at home at least, and giving the fans some reason to cheer. Hope it continues. You don't have to break an all-time losing season in order to draft #1 overall. Enjoy the wins, and enjoy the close games that go in OT like this one. Very enjoyable game overall.

Big -1 point. Good spirit tying it against the only NHL city that doesn’t deserve a team.

I'm inclined to agree.
Skilled with an edge and brings that 'hate to lose' attitude and plays with a chip on his shoulder.

Nah, there are better players.
They need to make room for Bedard and Celebrini.

Perhaps the post wasn't the greatest with regards to lifeless but let's be honest, this isn't a team with much life to them. Sure they outshot and battled somewhat hard but did this come off as a veteran club with a decent cap hit trying to win? People forget that this is not a rebuilding club, this is a team looking to compete despite the standings saying otherwise.
Winnipeg last played at home 2 weeks ago and was coming off a long 6 game road trip. They were and played tired. Flames lost and didn't exactly blew the doors off anybody.
As for Harvey, he is also MIA most home games. Legit rumour that the legal team/insurance premiums of him hanging from the stands, picking up kids, shooting shirts into the crowd got too high and now he's lifeless or neutered so to speak.

We have the 5th most cap space in the league, so I don't know if we are necessarily going all in to win.
At the same time they haven't traded Andersson, Coleman, and Kadri who are all no brainers to trade during a rebuild. So they are not really rebuilding either.
I call it a half measured rebuild for now. I don't think the owners or management know what this team is or what to do lol.

What the hell are you talking about? Team has traded more vets than any other team, has had multiple firsts going on 3 drafts now, and has one of the lowest caps in the league. (Some of that is retention) Did you just wake up from a deep coma? Also the 6th youngest team.

Is John Garrett a bit of a prick? Jon Abbott points out that Dave Lowry is nicknamed "Pi" due to proficiency at math (which is true according to interviews with Craig Conroy and others) and he starts going on about how it's because Lowry has a round face and snidely asking "where'd you get that?" to Jon about the math comment.

Tell me you didn't watch the game without telling me you didn't watch the game.
That was a fun game that Flames deserved to win.
They outcompeted the Jets all night. They were forcing turnovers just like last game.
The first line was great, the fourth line was great, Matty was all over the place and finally got rewarded, Backlund murdered Honzek. It was chaos. Fun chaos.
As dino7c said, all your other points about the team are bunk too.

Think he's just a crotchety old man at this point. Guy is 74. It's kind of crazy he's still in the booth.

I think a lot of fans are looking at a different scenario than what has actually played out. Players like Hubby, Kadri (trading Monahan +1st for cap space) Weeger, Sharangovich etc were all brought in and traded for in order to maintain performance and to compete. Rebuilding clubs don't throw out 1st round picks, sign veterans to 7/8 year deals and get what are deemed high quality players in return for trades (Frost/Farabee/Sharongovich) We also gave a coach a 2 year extension for the great work deemed last year.
Let's be honest, after Johnny, Chucky, Hanafin, Bennett, Monahan, Markstrom and others left or wanted to leave, we should have blown it up. Ownership and management thought they could hang around or stay competitive and made those moves above. We are really just that bad as a club and can't compete and are now being forced into trading a lot of players who signed here very recently, trying to win.
