Knies is what you hope a top 3-5 pick turns into

There's zero evidence that he's a trading chip.

It is fantasy land to think Knies is available. Toronto prioritized him over Marner.

It just doesn’t make sense for them to (a) want Kadri or (b) trade Knies. It just creates a hole to add another centre when they have two good ones already.

They already have their “vet” Kadri in Tavares. Drafted 8 spots apart.

That's a bit of an exaggeration, because I don't believe Marner was staying in Toronto under any circumstances. He was after the money, and they simply didn't have $12 million in cap space for him.
I think it's probably safer to say they groomed Knies to take over as a top-line winger, and he's done that beautifully. The Leafs' offence hasn't missed a beat. They just can't keep the puck out of their own net this season – second-worst in the league in goals against.
I absolutely agree that Knies is not on the market. I suppose the Leafs would trade him for someone like Bedard or Celebrini, but GMs who have players like those two are not suicidal.

Utah for the last 5-6 years has just been stuffing those cupboards with quality prospects, it's finally paying off, they might not have superstars, but they are going to have a very deep and talented team.

That’s not how it works. We go into situations thinking we have all the leverage but it rarely pans out that way. We thought that way about Andersson going into the draft and how we had all the leverage.
Stl is going to screw things up for us. They’ve got Faulk out there and that will impact the market for andersson. Same for schenn. That will temper the market for Kadri.
And not directed at you but I think we should can the knies talk. Not happening. Murray’s way of politely telling Tre to eff off

That's how long it usually takes 5-6 years.

Ok but we are comparing a 23 year old young 1st line winger. To a 35 year old 2nd line center.
With the age and potential not to mention Knies is already the better player, it is no contest. Knies is worth SIGNIFICANTLY more than Kadri.
Take off the Homer glasses.

What are you talking about? You said he was a center, he has never ever been a center. What does that have to do with homer glasses? You just don’t know the position this supposedly great player plays. That is all I was pointing out.

Typo, he is a 1st line winger. Either way, worth way more than old man Kadri so unfortunately a pipe dream for us.

Well it is unlikely that they move Knies for sure. LOL at the idea he will be a 100 point guy though. He has had a hot start on a team that constantly cheats for offence and has forwards who are terrible defensively. He would actually be a better player if he played at both ends of the rink.
But your hatred for the Flames does shine through with “way more than old man Kadri”…..we should wait for a season when Knies actually gets more points than Kadri before declaring that there is some sort of massive gap between the two.

Yeah Knies isn't getting moved, no idea why there has been so much discussion about him

Because Dreger said that was the asking price from Toronto for Andersson.
Which it should be. They have nothing.

It isn't hatred, I have a Kadri jersey. However a young 1st line winger is worth way more than an aging 2nd line center.
I look at the facts and take any emotion out of it.

Because that's the tax the Flames are gonna charge for trading with Treliving. " You want him? Pay up".

Leafs exploring hockey trades... roster for roster
Not talking about moving any of the top core in the roster for roster (Knies)
Does not believe Andersson is a match for Toronto

Yeah that'll fix the Leafs. Pretty happy he isn't the GM here any more.

Classic Brad, maybe somebody will take our crap for something good. The Leafs have maybe 7-8 tradeable assets.
