Weapons wasn’t really all that bad as some people were making it out to be. Kind of followed a familiar trope but it was any enjoyable enough watch. The last scene with Aunt Gladys was hilarious.

If nothing else, that movie will always be responsible for Jennifer Lawrence liking the Saddledome

Some people take pride in hating on what other people like.
If it didn't have the acclaim it does they'd probably have critiqued it in a different light.
But because people liked this thing, they have to put on their critical caps and make sure not to sound impressed.

25 Movies, Many Stars, 0 Hits: Hollywood Falls to New Lows
It has been a brutal three months for dramas and comedies.
https://www.nytimes.com/2025/11/14/b...e=articleShare
Quote:
Some were heavily marketed. Many were championed by critics. Most had star power.
But not one of the 25 dramas and comedies that movie companies released in North American theaters over the past three months has become a hit, certainly not in the way that Hollywood has historically kept score. Some have played to near-empty auditoriums, including “After the Hunt,” staring Julia Roberts; “Christy,” with Sydney Sweeney; and “Die My Love,” featuring Jennifer Lawrence and Robert Pattinson.
the box office is hurting as a whole. Theaters in the United States and Canada collected $445 million across all titles in October, the lowest total on record, after adjusting for inflation and excluding 2020, when the pandemic darkened screens.
During the pandemic, Hollywood largely ended the long-held practice of giving theaters an exclusive window of about 90 days to show new movies. Instead, movies started to become available for digital rental or purchase after as little as 17 days.

This has more to do with RT being a very flawed system than the critics getting it wrong. If everyone gave it a 7/10 like you it would have a 100% fresh rating. Generally props up safe mediocre movies that no one really hates.

Not a mention of Bugonia?
I like Lanthimos' wacky stuff, this one is pretty damn enjoyable with Plemons and Stone at the top of their game, they're just so good. I won't say another word, no spoilers. Really liked it.

Yep, I loved it!
Stone/Lanthimos is my favourite current movie making duo.

I loved Poor Things so much that I actually wasn't hyped on Bugonia at all, didn't think it could hold up, sometimes that's the best way to walk into a movie. Halfway through I was almost laughing trying to figure out which way he was going to go with Bugonia, very enjoyable.

Since September. Was a grind though as I treated OLD like a 2nd job averaging 2-3 dates a week until I found someone that clicked for the both of us. I don’t think sharing a photo would be a good idea.

Its good. Probably my third favorite film of his behind Poor Things and the Favorite.
It was a step up ftom Kinds of Kindness I thought. More cohesive story sprinkled with dark humor and wtf moments. Allowed the leads to shine in their roles
And uh.. Quite the ending.

Nope not easy. It can feel hopeless but if you keep plugging away and brush off rejection, eventually you will find someone. Best thing I can say is to strike the iron when it’s hot. Ladies have so much options that you can get lost in the shuffle of small talk. I often asked them out within a day or two of chatting if I liked them.

Weapons and Sinners were the same to me.
I saw them and liked them. Nothing ground breaking by any means, just good flicks for their genres.
Then people were calling them Oscar contenders. what?
Has this year been that bad for movies?

No one needs a Bond origin story. The lore is a total mess, and people just accept Bond as is. He's a cool spy.
The more important element of a Bond film is the villain's scheme. Get a villain with a clever and mostly logical scheme, have bond look cool, include some cool action sequences and possibly gadgets, you have yourself a bond film.
You do not need to make it overly deep or lore heavy. The Craig Bond series had some great films but also got weighed down by the exploring what a Bond actually was and the MI6 anti-Bond conspiracies. A bit of that was good, but they wrote themselves into corners.

Thankfully it was a LOT more interesting than the trailers made it out to be.
There are some scary parallels with what's going on in America right now.. almost felt like a glimpse into the future there. Not all that far-fetched.
9/10

Just caught it. I thought it was great!
Sean Penn is legitimately terrifying and Benicio del Toro was so good in a smaller role.
A movie reviewer I follow put it perfectly IMO:

Yes let's take the international man of mystery and get rid of the mystery part.
Also why is Charlamet playing young versions of everyone. He's thirty years old. Are we supposed to believe that because he's short now, he'll grow to become a mid 30s Bond later? Just cast someone who looks like Bond.

Totally embarrassing review. Threw Playdate on when I got home just to have the TV on. Kevin James and that guy from Reacher. Fata me it was awesome. I don’t think I’ve ever watched a Kevin James movie. Obviously ridiculous and silly but constant chuckles throughout.
